“Jewel in the City”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

The San Juan Capistrano Mission is a Jewel in the city. The place is tranquil and peaceful and has several varieties of Plants and fruit Trees that are all well maintained and full of color. The Buildings and grounds are wonderful for picture taking. The day I was there many school aged kids were walking around with guides learning the history. In the middle of the courtyard is a wonderful fountain that is home to many Coy fish that look well fed. The church is also beautiful. This place is a great day trip and should be experienced first hand.

“Lovely place to visit”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

A nice place to spend a couple hours if you enjoy history, and if one of you doesn't, there are lots of beautiful grounds to sit and enjoy the sunshine. I did enjoy the audio sets given out.

“Two hours gets you educated”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

This site was on our list of places to visit if we were in the area. Glad we did. A beautifully restored complex with ample history lessons learned over the portable devices handed out when you arrive. It was sad to learn that a place that took so long to complete was devastated a short time later by earthquake, but the restoration efforts are quite remarkable. A really nice job of capturing the local history of the area. Couple the tour of the Mission with a walk around town some neat stores and restaurants, and it makes for a really nice day.

“Interesting”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

This was an interesting visit. The entrance fee is a little hefty at $9 per person, but it included the audio equipment so that you can hear the history of the mission as you walk along at your own pace. The grounds are clean and well maintained and there is a gift shop with a good variety of items for sale. The employees are nice and helpful.
