“A Good Option near San Jose, CA Airport”
Reviewed October 23, 2008

This hotel is older and its design and furniture look it. Having said that, it is clean, quiet, highly functional, and very close to SJC [the hotel has a free shuttle service and/or free parking]. I booked through Hotwire for $145 inclusive for two nights. There was no need for the high-priced restaurant [less expensive options are across the street], and the real and complementary coffee in the room was sufficient in the morning. There's a free PC in the lobby for your Internet needs. In an area of outrageously priced mediocre rooms, this was a bargain., I'll book there again at these rates.

The hotel is a very bland Holiday Inn Express. Rooms are pretty standard and are clean but the equipment is starting to show its age. The decor is a bit depressing and my room was on the main street side, so it was not very quiet come morning. The free breakfast provided is indeed free but not as good as you would find at a Hampton Inn.

Two things are notable:
1. While not far from San Jose Airport, it is not *at* the airport. If you need to be close to the airport and the business park that is adjacent to it, you will do better if you stay at the Doubletree or the Courtyard. It is even farther out than the Wyndham.
2. The hotel has a free airport shuttle, but you will need to call the hotel to make sure it comes to pick you up. It will take approximately 15 minutes so hopefully it does not rain while you wait.

In essence, not an awesome experience but one could fare much worse. One thing's for sure: I will not stay in this property if I had to be in San Jose long-term.

I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Express on business for 2 years and will continue to stay here. The rooms are very nice and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I travel a lot on business so I was pleased to see that the hotel provides a desk and free wireless internet. The hotel also offers a nice breakfast every morning which is nice. I want to add that I could stay at many of the fancy Hotels but I find the Holiday Inn Express to be very comfortable. This is my home away from home.

If you are waiting for an important job interview phone call, and wondering why the phone isn't ringing in your room, you may have been Holidwned. But, if you are like me and don't really want to move to Texas anyway, maybe you'll let the wonderful breaskfast bar, comfy beds, and free internet woo your initial sense of indignation. The maids even respect the "privacy please" and will let you sleep all day, every day, if that's what you really want to do. The only catch is learning to live with heaps of garbage that can't fit inside the one quart bin provided.

It is a short walk to the light rail system, but remember not every day in CA is sunny, so bring an umbrella!

I only stayed here one night. The room was nice, but the rest of the hotel seemed run down. The afternoon/evening front desk staff was not overly friendly. The morning staff were much nicer. It was convienent being so close to the airport and the shuttle was great. I would stay here again if I needed to get to or from the airport quickly.

We stay at a lot of hotels and this room has to be one of the noisiest ever. You can hear every foot step of the room upstairs. There was a 1/2 inch gap under the door(Room 117) and a 1/4 inch gap on the handle side of the door. So not only does more noise come through, but a very cold breeze because they leave the building door open all night long. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep.

The bed is OK, workout room is good and the breakfast had plenty of choices. However, we wouldn't return again.

My husband and I needed a place to stay near the San Jose airport before setting off to Yosemite the following day. Based on the location, the price and the complimentary shuttle service, we chose the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel served our purpose wonderfully. The shuttle came about 10 minutes after we called for pickup. There were several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Front desk staff was efficient. We also were able to quickly get a shuttle back to the airport to pick up our rental car the next day. The complimentary continental breakfast was also quite good.

Like prior reviewers said, it's an airport hotel, so it's really not near much of anything exciting. For what we needed, however, it fit the bill perfectly.
