Overall a convention hotel with GREAT staff. Rooms are fine. Clean, with some modernish appointments, but.overall this is a volume hotal with lovely staff. Big call out to the staff tHough. Dont want to name and shame but Henry at front desk and Clarissa at breakfast were great ambassadors. Pay rise for them! :)

Stayed one night on business & felt very comfortable. Room & bathroom were spacious & bed very comfortable. Not the most stylish of places but excellent facilities and convenient being attached to San Jose Convention Centre.

Was in San Jose for the Rock n Roll half marathon and lucked out with a room at the Hilton. The hotel was very nice and the location was ideal. Ended up on the 18th floor with executive lounge priveleges; my room was excellent and the bed was ultra comfy. The only bad thing I have to say is that I only got to stay one night. This will definitely be hotel of choice next time I am in town.

Room Tip: If you can swing either the 17th or 18th floor, it is worth it. Great views and executive lounge priveleges make it an even nicer stay.

It's experiences such as these that remind you why your loyal to a Hotel chain.

I was participating in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in San Jose and the obvious choice was this property, located near to the start line in downtown SJ.

Locating the Hilton San Jose was easy, being close to the 101 and the 87, as I drove from San Francisco.

The property was not only 3 blocks from the race start line, but within walking distance of many restaurants and convenience shops. I found many things to like and none to hate about the hotel location. As the hotel was attached to the Convention Center, the parking was underneath both, and convenient to walk from your car to the lobby. The Convention center was also the location of the Health and Sports Expo for the race. The convenience of walking from your hotel elevator to the sports expo in less than 5 minutes with a full "swag bag" cannot be understated!

The hotel check in was painless, and I was upgraded as a Diamond member to the Executive floor.

The room was very nicely sized, and had a superb comfy bed. A testament to how comfortable it was is that I didn't care for once that they did not have a king bed available and had to provide a room with 2 double beds.

Alas, the bathroom was a tub/shower combo, not the shower stall as some upgraded Hilton's have. Overall tho, the bathroom was roomy enough and the sink fixtures modern. The shower head had good water pressure but tended to spray the water outside the tub around the edges of the curtain.

The view from my 18th story window was also superb, with visuals of the valley and nearby mountains.

The Executive Club was good but small. In the mornings and evenings at peak hours, they ran out of chairs :-( Another sad note is the "Honor Bar" where they charge for alcohol. Having traveled to many international Hilton destinations where they still do NOT try to rake in every penny, I continue to be disappointed with this US Hilton implementation.

The stay convenience of location came together as I woke up at 5am for the 8am race start gun and only had to walk 3 blocks away...No cars, no travel pressure, and a convenient race breakfast as the Hilton restaurant opened also at 5am.

It was interesting and curious to see that although the Hilton was a sponsor of the race, no special amenities were prepared for runners staying there or recognition of the event in any way. I have stayed at other Hilton properties that took these recognition steps and would highly recommend that the San Jose Hilton do the same. For an example of another Hilton property, they can contact the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, FL, where special packages are prepared for the Disney Marathon Weekend, or the Embassy Suites in Philadelphia, PA for the Philadelphia Marathon. It's a touch of class and sophistication that appeals beyond words

As I signed up for the race next year, I will be back to this property without a hesitation and will be sure to reserve early!

Room Tip: Executive floor rooms!

Okay hotel. Good room. Clean. Nice staff. Restaurant manager came by during dinner and asked how everything was. So overall no complaints.

The bar/restaurant ambiance was poor. No character.

Closest restaurants were a 5 minute walk away.

Not bad, but where is the wow factor? Nothing stood out. Good value, clean, but boring.
