Good food, excellent service, but rather noisy and too sports-bar oriented for my taste. Menu items (at least the appetizers) are also very sports-bar-like. But the main courses are varied meat, seafood, vegetarian, and well-prepared. Sadly, one entree and one soup were barely warm, not close to being hot. Service very helpful, patient, and attentive.

It was the perfect spot for a before theater meal with a dear friend. We had lots of chatter to catch up on and a window seat at The Loft was the perfect spot. There are so many items to choose from on the menu but we settled on a small plate and salad. My crab cakes were light and very tasty; my friend's shrimp cocktail with avocado and cilantro was perfect. The server was very attentive and never rushed us and the price was right. I enjoyed the Prix Fixe meal on my first visit--Garlic Shrimp Skewers. There are so many great restraunts in downtown San Jose, but The Loft is definitely one you will go back to...and recommend to others!

The Loft puts forth its character more as a downtown bar and pub than a fine bistro. But the food is great and the chef deserves accolades. I had a salad and a small entree plate because I was going to the theatre and did not want to overload. The salad was a pear and blue cheese salad which was one of the best I have had....fresh and flavorful. The small plate was a teri flavored boneless short rib served just with a medley of sauteed vegetables....perfect! The shortrib was lucious, and more importantly, the vegetable medley is colorful, and enticing with outstanding fresh flavor, something I have not been able to rave about at the best fine dining establishments. Congradulations to the chef! Admitedly, The Loft was built around drinking, music and entertainment in that kind of section of San Jose; but for me, the food outshines its environment and deserves a better home. Maybe the Capers/Loft management might consider a third venue to nourish.

Our bartender, Adam, made the venue. The second stort street view was pretty nice too

Had a good time at Loft with some business associates. Happy Hour prices were reasonable with very good service from the bartender. Ordered the Cajun Chicken from the Low Carb section. Chicken was a little dry. Everyone around the table enjoyed the meal. I would go again and try something else on the menu.
