This is an excellent Oaxacan food restaurant - one of Mexico’s most celebrated and complex cuisines. The atmosphere is quite nice - nice table area, bar, and day of the dead type atmosphere.
We had found this place due to watching Bizarre Foods on Travel channel..
and although we did not try the grasshoppers which were famous from that show, we enjoyed their menu a lot. Most of their food is very good and not as exotic as grasshoppers.
We enjoyed as our appetizer memilitas - handmade corn tortillas, spread with pork cracklings, black bean puree and cheese. For the main enjoyed their tamales (wrapped in banana leaves) and their mole negro. Too full for dessert (maybe next time). Enjoyed bohemia beer and margaritas.
Service was fine.....
Nice place to go when in San Jose.
Parked in a parking garage about a street length away.
Note: For those traveling, this is very close to the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose.
