My wife is an avid quilter and I thought this would be a great place for us to stop by.
It was small and took very little time to go around.
On of the exhibits which was circus types of displays all covered with quilts were the most interesting thing there.
The rest of the stuff was just so-so.
Even my wife was not overly impressed and she had higher hopes than what was provided.
Should have went somewhere else!

Not a large museum, but mind bogeling. Loved the colors, textures, displays and how the colors of the walls compliment the beautiful quilts. Mostly modern, some traditional, all exceptional displays of workmanship, creativity and beauty. Must see when you are in San Jose.

The museum is tiny. The exhibit on display was minimal and not very interesting. Glad we only paid $8. Make sure you explore exactly what is on display before you go. It changes often so maybe there will be something more interesting and substantial for your visit.

I have visited this museum twice and was so impressed with the exhibits both times. If I lived in the area I would be a member and visit every time there was a new exhibit! Lots of great dining in the area, easy to visit. The current Quilt Nihon exhibit is just gorgeous.

That which is on display is worth seeing, however, emphasis is on large works of modern design. Better use of the intramural space could have been made by use of display boards for a variety of smaller works. During my visit there were no historic pieces, which is a shame. There should be a "historic anchor" of this great American art form and then the modern works could be better appreciated and represent the craft's evolution. The gift shop had a lot of imported silk scarves, costume earrings and greeting cards, all highly priced. Why not small quilts? I found only a handful! Surely lots of quilters would love to have their work sold at a local museum. Not seeing the museum mission statement anywhere, perhaps I have totally misunderstood it's raison d'etre.
