“Beautifully laid out, of a bit 'concretey'”

Nicely maintained set of formal Japanese Gardens, with lots of fish to spot and little streams to walk over. Lots of shade to stay out of the sun if you want to, but plenty of places to bask [if you feel like risking the wrath of the Geese - in October!].

The only downside for me, was that the obviously constructed nature of the Gardens was pretty obvious (concrete channels, edging etc) and this detracted somewhat from the 'natural' experience.

“What a Surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

My daughters who have an obsession with Japanese culture flew in from Connecticut. We needed to get out in the afternoon and walk so I gambled and we went to this garden. I've been in San Jose 6 years and had no idea this cute, large, and well appointed garden existed. The ponds and landscaping are outstanding. Its a great place to spend an afternoon in the sun, let the children run their legs off, and stroll around. Highly recommended - and free

“Gorgeous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

I found this garden to be so quiet and serene, so well maintained and so pretty. We stayed for at least 2 hours. You can sit on a little stone bench and look out on the water or stroll around the grounds and over the little bridges. There seemed to be a tea room of some sort at the top, but it was closed and we really couldn't find any information about it from the outside. Beautiful trees, waterfalls, statuary. An oasis in the city.

“Serene, peaceful and lots to see, too.”

Garden was much larger than i thought, waterfalls, ponds and lots of trees. A great, free place to visit. As was the park adjoining it. Very nice place!
