Owner description: The Tech Museum of Innovation is a Silicon Valley landmark for visitors seeking a glimpse of the most innovative place on Earth. The 132,000 square foot museum is one of the nation's premier science and technology museums. The Tech is dedicated to inspire the innovator in everyone. Through fun, hands-on experiences and one of-a-kind floor programs, many supported by Stanford and NASA, the museum unleashes the creative sparks hidden within. Enjoy the largest IMAX dome screen in the West with its eight story-high screen and digital surround-sound system. New! Build, program, and decorate a "social robot" or explore The Tech Studio, a unique space that boasts the latest in cutting-edge digital fabrication with 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters. With so many experiences at your fingertips, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination! Don't miss the last chance to see Star Wars (R): Where Science Meets Imagination, the exhibition. Open now through February 23, 2014. This is the first and last chance to see this 10,000 sq foot exhibition that includes 80 authentic costumes from all 6 films, plus interactive hands-on labs. Museum opens at 10:00 a.m.; closing times vary.

The 'Tech' part of the museum covers more than the expected microchip making gizmos. There are exhibits on biotech, natural science and software.

The targeted demographics are the hyperactive youngsters who demand a whole lot of manipulation and results from their interactions.

Does all this commotion bring on the mindless fun of a Disneyland ride? Probably not. Are the printed explanations on the same level as a Smithsonian exhibition? Maybe not. But we all hope that they provide the gateway for a curious mind to wander around.

The star attraction is the IMAX theater where one is literally bathed in a half dome of projected images. It is like watching a HD movie on a stadium-sized screen.

After all these tiresome interactions, there is nothing more satisfying than easing back into the TV watching experience. And it's okay to show sports films instead of the usual nature fly-overs.

(hint to museum trustee: the sport fan is your money-maker...)

We just spent a day at the Tech. Some new tech and games on display. We went because the Myth Busters exhibit which was fun but also viewed a IMAX movie about the trans continental railway crossing Canada. All of this added up to a great day.

Great for kids, but I was a bit bored during my visit. Some of the stuff did not work, and it seemed they had a "flood" downstairs and half the displays were closed off. A wow factor maybe for the youngsters, but as an adult nothing said wow to me. Take the kids!

I have taken fifth and sixth graders here for years. The staff is so friendly and attentive. A recent remodel and updates have been done to keep the museum fresh and cutting edge. The kids love it!

I have been to this museum many times, both as a teacher with my students and with my grand-kids.
The kids always have a great time, the IMAX is awesome, and there is plenty to keep an adult amused!
