This was my first experience at the San Gabriel Hilton. I went there for the location, and it turned out to be really, really nice. Great room, super staff, nice facilities. Definitely a winner.

And Paul, the bartender at Jason's, was super.

2 enthusiastic thumbs up!

It is really a nice experience and will choose it again if staying at LA. It charged me $ 5.00 for the parking over night but to be honestly, the underground parking is free and open to everyone, I don't see the purpose to charge it.

Dear Xuhao8612,
Thank you for the nice review. We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you are visiting Los Angeles. We do have a $5.00 parking fee for all vehicles that park with us overnight, this is to help control non-hotel guests from parking in our lot and just so you know most hotels in the area charge a minimum of $10.00 or more for parking. It's a very common fee at most full service hotels. If you have any questions or need any assistance in the future, please let us know.
Thank you for choosing Hilton Los Angeles San Gabriel.

I needed to change my reservations from 1 bed to 2 beds, and the staff was able to make the changes before my arrival. Making my check-in quick and easy. The hotel location is great, and the room is clean. They also provided a platter of fruits for me in the room - maybe because I am an Honors member. This is my go to lodging when in the area.

Stayed here the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Made an indirect reservation and James did a really nice job with the check-in by providing bottled waters along with a goodie bag with more water and snacks. The room also had 2 more bottles of water.

The property is showing its age, especially with the brand new Sheraton next door along with a couple of hotels being built next door! Underground parking is $5/night and is shared with the plaza next door, that is completely connected to the hotel. The parking garage is pretty worn down and decrepit.

The hotel elevator is controlled by the room key and the emergency exit stairwell is one-way exit only. The interior corridors looked tired, including the room.

The walls were on the thinner side as we could hear the neighbors next door. The two switches next to the entrance were inoperable and we found out right before bed that the light above the TV had no off switch...so we had to resort to unplugging it from the wall?!?

The bathroom was also quite tired with towels that were quite thin, a bathroom sink that was somewhat clogged, along with a showerhead with minimal water pressure...bummer.

The HVAC control claimed the room was 68F, but the room definitely felt much warmer. The Wifi was complimentary and worked flawlessly.

The bed was comfortable and the black-out shades ensured a dark room for a good night's rest.

...I think I'll stay next door at the Sheraton the next time I'm in San Gabriel, unless this property undergoes some massive remodeling!

Dear sofaonasock1,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience on Tripadvisor. We agree with you that that we are not a brand new hotel and maybe not quite up to your preferences and that is okay. For a hotel that's been around for 15 years, we believe we have a pretty darn good product and offer more value than most hotels in the area. When we open our brand new Curio Hotel next door in the future, we imagine the new hotels in the area will also begin to show their age in comparison.

As for the "one way" emergency exit stairwell, that was purposely designed that way to keep unauthorized guests from entering other guestroom floors. As for the light in the TV credenza, there is an on/off button that will allow you to turn it off before bed.... And the minimal water pressure, we inspected the room and the shower head setting just needed to be manually turned for more flow. Just felt the need to explain so future guests that read this are able to avoid the challenges you mentioned.

We are happy you liked the service and comfortable bed we provide... a good night's rest, a delicious breakfast, a clean hotel and great service are what we feel are the most important to the majority of travelers and we feel we offer all those and more.

Thank you for staying with us and if there is anything we can do to assist you in the future, please let us know.
