Nicest hotel in the area. Beautiful rooftop garden. Easy parking. Nestled in the new Chinatown. Easy walk to Asian dining, shopping, foot massages. Rooms large and clean and lots of pillows. Limited lobby, bar and coffee shop never open but you can find plenty of tea close by. Easy access to 10 if you want to come back to states.
Customer service as average at best; it appeared that staff need more training on customer greetings. Food was average; not the best selections. However, rooms are very clean. I would recommend that management focus on customer greetings at the point of reception. This will go a long way in improving the ratings of the hotel.
Free wifi internet, free parking, free drinks(1 per person), clean room, large size room, soft pillow and soft bed, large flat screen with extra channels, frigerator, easy control air conditioner, perfect in room temp. few short blocks from Freeway 10 for easy and fast access, many shops and restaurants nearby.
Front desk and manager style does not seem to be Hilton class level, lack elegance and friendiness, almost China Chinese hotel style, but contact is miminum only at check in, not relevant.
The hotel is in an Asian--primarily Chinese--- area, but it is not dilapidated as another reviewer would suggest. If you are uncomfortable in an area that is diverse then you might feel uncomfortable here. In many ways, I think this hotel gives you access to an off the beaten path of the LA area.
I found the experience to be very nice. The beds were very comfortable and the bath products were very nice. I did have a few issues with my tv and my phone, but the engineer came and fixed it right away.
The bad part of the trip was the front desk staff. I thought it was great they could speak more than one language, but they should be trained more is hospitality. I was traveling with a group on business and the check-in process was difficult. They also switched credit cards from the one I booked to the one for incidentals. No one was outright rude, but no one tried to make our experience easier. And unfortunately, I had to go to the front desk several times.
I would recommend this hotel if you need to be in the area. Just be patient with the front desk staff.
As other reviews highlighted, this hotel is in a very Chinese/Asian area. If you are into authentic Chinese/Asian food, this is the hotel to be, and they open till late! During my stay, there were quite a large number Chinese speaking tourists, possibly because it was the Chinese New Year time.
Hotel staff were warm and pleasant. The room was like a typical Hilton facility. I had complimentary breakfast, not sure it was from my room rate or my HHonors status. It was a full breakfast buffet with beacon, egg, vegetable salad, fruits, etc. and also traditional Chinese breakfast like soy milk, congee.
Self parking was $5/night. Internet was complimentary. Financial Times and Chinese newspaper are available in addition to the official hotel newspaper - USA Today...
I encountered a bit of traffic during my commute to downtown LA. Traffic was moving, just a bit of bumper to bumper at certain sections.
No complaint. Will go back.
The hotel itself was terrific---clean, beautiful, and beautiful rooms/facility. With traffic, it is about a half an hour drive into LA. It is a littletricky because although they have a restaurant inside the hotel, it is on the expensive side with no complimentary breakfast. It is also in the middle of a huge Chinatown in a traditonally american georgraphical layout. It was really awesome, but it was difficult to find a place to eat because all of the signs were in Chinese. There is a really good Italian restaurant a quick five-minute drive away.
