Been going here since it was in old town. The fresh chips are good, although they leave a heavy feeling in your stomach if you eat too many. The salsa and guacamole are both great. The rest of the food is okay. Sometimes the meat is really tough in the fajitas. On a take out order, they once only gave us two tortillas with the fajitas. The tostada salads are the reason I go. They load it up with a huge pile of lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and a tomato. Just don't get the chicken tostada...the chicken tastes canned. Go with the plain beans. My mom loves the albondigas soup. I recommend it to people, but (as seen above) with lots of reservations.

I returned to the Casa Del Rey yesterday (7-1-10) for the third time. The food, including yesterday, was quite good, albeit typical Southern California Mexican. The carpeted floor, however, was nothing short of disgusting. Others have complained about the service, but ours was fine. If that is how concerned they are about cleanliness, one has to wonder about the kitchen.

Casa Del Rey is home to the best Mexican Food in the area. The menu combines the traditional with new, health conscious offerings. It can be quite crowded on weekends but the service has always been fast and friendly. The bar, though crowded, has a quick turnover and a table can always be found. They have the best Margaritas and chips, hands down. Grab a table in the bar, order dinner and Margaritas, and you can be in and out on a crowded weekend evening in under an hour. If you want to linger and enjoy their unique, down home atmosphere, you can linger without staff making you feel rushed. It can be crowded and noisy on weekends, but with friendly staff, delicious food, quick service, and an unhurried atmosphere, Casa Del Rey is the place to go for Mexican Food in and around San Dimas.

We were a party of 8 and two babies, We called before and they do not take reservation. They said the wait would be 30 minutes. Well we waited for over an hour. When they finally seated us, they seated us on two separate tables. 5 minutes later we saw how a big table became available and we asked to be seated there. The manager said no they expecting a big party . The entire dinner there were two women sitting on that large table and we were squeezed in a booth.
So upsetting and nobody cared. The food quality is average, prices are on the higher side. There are better mexican restaurant's !!!

We are a party of 8 and they could not accomodate us. We had to wait 1 hour and then be put at two seperate booths. As we were eating our chips two tables opened up that could be pushed together Randy refused to sit us there stating he had another big party that he promised it to. He said "first come first serve". Not only had we been there longer but the big party he was talking about turned out to be two ladies that got seated 20 minutes after that conversation with him. I was very angry that we had been put in booths back to back. Our family dinner turned out to be very disappointing and all this could have been rectified had Randy done his job. Then to top it off sitting at two completly different tables we got the bill with 18% gratuity added in. What??????? We will never go back again. The owner needs to get rid of Randy and look into customer service
