This is a great place to stay. The rooms are all suites with a decent-sized bedroom (queen), nice bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, living/dining area, two twin murphy beds and a balcony. Our room overlooked the pool and garden area and was on the top floor (less noise). Very comfortable for a family of 4 and great location. Close to the beaches, downtown, Laguna Beach, etc.

If your into roaches joining you in bed then this is the place for you. Great location, drab rooms and old furniture. Everything needs updating and lots of bug poison.

We stayed at the San Clemente Inn for two weeks in September 2010 having last visited in 2007 and yes, we would go again. The staff are excellent, both friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. Some of the rooms are are a bit dated, but they are certainly clean and well serviced and have everything you need, personally I don't want to stay in the room all day when there is a first class swimming pool and Jacuzzi on site. A programme of updating the older rooms was started during our stay. For us the San Clemente Inn is ideally located, a short walk from the beach, the town is just a short drive away. If you can't find somewhere to park on the road, then yes you have to pay, but where don't you these days...at least the price is reasonable. The grounds of the hotel are immaculate and well kept, the front of the hotel does not do justice to the small rear garden which back on to the San Clemente State National Park. What can I say about Adele and her staff at the restaurant, they could not have been more friendly and helpful, good home cooked food at a reasonable price and good company.

For the timeshare, you must get there by 1pm for early checkin to get a room that is at all stayable even though check in is like 4pm. The front desk and restaurant employees are wonderful, helpful and kind. The grounds are clean and nice for children and the pool is clean. The rooms are cleaned each day and are clean. The rooms are depressing, dismal, small and the buildings are run down - it needs help. Do not stay here without a car and have pleanty of quarters for parking all over town. The town is small and cute with goodrestaurants and shopping. A sleepy little commuinity that takes you back in time. We recommend the Fisherman (happy hour) and Nicks. The beach is beautiful and plan lots of events because you will not want to be in the room.

We can't believe more bad reviews have not been posted. This place is far from living up to the the standards and quality that the video & website convey. The room was dirty. My shoes were sticking to the floor. Stained couch. crumbs on the rug and in the chairs. and, creepy murphy beds. The entire place smells musty and stuffy like years of greasy fried food being cooked. The facilities are run down, ill maintained and in need of a major upgrade The staff is attentive but nonexistent, once you check-in.
We will not be back.

This is not a 5 star Marriott. And, it's not a Motel 6. It's a comfortable, clean resort. The unit has 2 murphy beds, a bedroom, and a kitchenette.
Half the units in the complex have been refurbished... keep this in mind when reading negative reviews. The other half of the refurbishment should be completed by summer 2010. I stayed in a refurbished unit. The furnishings are nice-- very comfortable and homely. There's a 42 inch flat screen TV in the family room, and a smaller flat screen TV in the bedroom.
In terms of the resort amenities, there's tennis, a sports court, miniature golf, a pool, a play area for the kids, and shuffleboard. There's a game room and activities center. And, the resort rents out all kinds of equipment, complimentary-- from board games to Video rentals... All complimentary.
The resort even has a restaurant on the grounds with nightly entertainment.
The beach is a short walk-- 5 minutes away. And, if you don't have an aversion to walking, the peir is another mile beyond that.
It's not 5 stars, but for a family, we can spend a whole week there and have plenty to do.

We have been timeshare owners for several years and have been to several resorts during that time. This was, by far, the worst. The room was in grave disrepair. The furnishings were very worn and the appliances were, literally, falling apart. The sheets appeared to be clean, but the blankets on top had many stiff spots and were clearly not freshly washed. The shower was disgusting as well. We took off our shoes and promptly had filthy feet from the carpets being so dirty.

I am used to timeshare housekeeping, with no daily service and needing to set out your trash daily, etc. However, I felt as though the housekeeping staff here didn't know, nor care, what they were doing. I would set out our trash each morning, but then they would come in anyway and switch the towels, which they were not supposed to be doing each day. Not worthy of complaint, BUT on Wednesday, which is the day that they are supposed to make the beds, (and I had been told, change the bedding, since ours was disgusting), we returned late in the evening to find that one of the murphy beds had been made, the second had been partially made (the blanket and pillow had been left on the dining room table?) and the queen sized bed had not even been touched. I was furious but saw little point in complaining at this point since so much had already gone wrong.

We also had family staying here with us in another room, which smelled so strongly of urine that the windows had to be left open almost all of the time.

On the plus side, there was ample storage space and it was quiet and centrally located for our needs.

We had requested a room away from the freeway, but they gave us the second room down from the freeway, quite possibly the closest he could find, further demoting the ranking on this place. We will not be staying here again. Ever.
