“Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

My fiancé and I came here for his birthday, it was absolutely amazing!! The property was gorgeous and well cared for, the rooms each have their own theme and are perfect for that African feel without traveling far. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly! And the elephants are amazing. They bring animals by to visit your rooms. And you can go on various tours. I would highly recommend it!!

Me and my husband needed to rekindle our marriage this is the place. so serene, and so Serengeti like without the $$$cost. with beaches close by so nice, This is a peaceful, well taken of place, we felt like were in a really nice hotel suite. We vowed to always refresh here it was close , and local, it just takes you away at the same time you forget that Salinas is minutes away. Will be going back. No doubt about that.

Room Tip: we had bungalow 1 real nice couple suite. love having the elephant come give us a morning visit.. We...

Great experience and quite educational. The tour guides were so very well informed. We have been recommending to our friends. It is a hidden treasure. About 30 miles from our home and we weren't aware of its existence. Be sure to spend a little extra for the evening feeding of the cats and the "butch's bedtime".

Room Tip: We were in #8, leopards lair and feel that it was the best location. Best view of the elephant'...

What an exotic treat! Celebrated my best friend's birthday here after finding out about it while searching out John Steinbeck spots in Salinas... her favorite author. Loved everything about it! The tour of the zoo, the safari tent hotel room, the breakfast delivery by an elephant and the visit from a baboon and civet.. Sound amazing? It is! And very, very quiet at night, well except for the occasional lion's roar or elephant's trumpet. We stayed in the "Cat House" which gave a birds eye view of the elephants daily bath in the morning and the elephant's, water buffalo, ostrich and a zebra whose personality is right out of the cartoon "Madagascar".. Thank you Vision Quest! Really looking forward to coming back soon!

Room Tip: Definitely stay in one of the tents/rooms that overlook the zoo and elephant habitat.

I gave this as a Christmas present for my daughter and we just went last week and we were so amazed at how awesome this facility is and the animals are so well taken care of, We can't wait to come back again. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

Our children got us this experience for Christmas as we had spoken of going on an African Safari. We enjoyed the experience and feel we have been blessed by this. We experienced feeding of the cats and putting the elephants to bed as well as breakfast delivered by elephant and trainers. My only complaint would be the traffic noise from the highway nearby. Hearing the lion roar in the middle of the night was thrilling. Clean facility all animals seemed very happy. The trainers spoke of them with real heart- overall an amazing trip.

Room Tip: Pick #3- the little big cats tent- best overall view of the property. Full view of the elephant area...

I had never even heard of this place but thought I would give it a try. I researched to make sure I didn't hear about animal abuses and there were none. Perfect. My friend got sick so I went alone but stayed in the Leopard tent which overlooked the elephants. This was amazing. Sitting on the deck and watching an elephant and a zebra play with each other was just awesome. The elephants were rescues and while they weren't on the Savannah this was a good and healthy place for them after the zoo experience. It started with a tour and it was great to see some of these animals up close and personal. However, I hated seeing the cages and the pacing. They were clean, healthy and mostly content animals but still, the cages. Good news is they are working on changing this up and that is great. It is obvious the people love these animals and the animals them. So once the cages are gone I'd give 5 stars. The elephants are kept in at night and there is the option of feeding them there. That was pretty cool and considering they just had to put their trunks up for dinner vs say standing on their heads at a zoo that was ok. I did not like seeing the bullhooks at all but with that said I never saw them used. In the morning breakfast was delivered by elephant and it was pretty cute to see this elephant come walking up to you for a treat. When the ladies brought a couple of animals around to each tent I had to laugh as they basically had to carry them and well, that was hilarious. So once the cages are gone I'd say 5 stars.
