“We just dropped in - no reservations!”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Normally we have a few other others as dependable go to's, but last Saturday the menu at Cook sounded perfect. We had been showing off the CIA to family earlier, and after the cooking demonstra we were ready to eat.
This place is tiny, bustling, crowded, and very much inviting. The hostess asked if we had reservations and I said no. She said to wait they would find us seats, and to our surprise our table was ready in minutes. We had calamari, ceasar salads, a devine seafood risotto, an enormous hamburger, and pasta. ALL our food was cooked to perfection and it was delicious. Our new favorite go to restaurant in Saint Helena. Try it YU, you wio-

“Just right”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

After a busy day of wine tasting on a Sunday, we stopped by Cook for a light mid-afternoon meal. The menu options were very limited, but just what we were looking for. I had a juicy burger, and my husband had a fresh mozzarella plate, then we halved both for a swap. We were very pleased with the food and service, and the price was right, too. Would love to go back for their full menu options.

“Local favorite”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

Visited as a group for lunch October 2013

We were actually directed here by a shopkeeper who mentioned it was a favorite haunt for locals. We headed down and were not disappointed. It's a very happening cafe. Packed with people, cozy, noisy--everything you would expect of a popular shop. We had to queue but eventually got seats at the bar.

I myself had a salad and a pesto pasta. Simple, homey, and light -- the taste was there and it was a much needed lighter meal after a few days of heavy wine and dine in the valley. Portions reasonably sized and reasonably priced.

Not much fanfare and not the most comfortable seating around, but for a quick lunch, it was a great bite and very earnest service. They also brewed some fantastic coffee to finish. It was more than enough to get us revved to continue shopping... worth a stop-over if you're in the area.

“A fantastic local spot!”

I previously ate lunch at Cook and had a great experience. Dinner there did not disappoint. The mozzarella appetizer with pesto was fantastic and the pastas were perfectly sauced and flavorful. It is an intimate setting and the service is perfect.

“Cozy & Romantic and mighty tasty!”
Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

Very cozy and equally romantic place to dine. Last night was our 3rd visit. My sweetheart had a very exclnt Bolognese and I had a very tasty chicken dish w/ pesto broth and Calabrian chiles. All food executed well. This kitchen does not miss an opportunity to season properly. Service was snappy and informative. The two tops here are really cozy, perfect for intimate hand holding dining. Mussels w/ sausage and spicy red sauce are awesome. We continue to feel like we get WAY more than we pay for. A true gem when it comes to Northern California wine country dining.
