While traveling with another couple, we had dinner at the Market restaurant in downtown St. Helena. Cute, casual but with a lovely ambiance, this little place is really fun. Quiet it is not, but the food combined with the wine selection should make the pickiest foodies happy. The food is delicious and not overly "fancied". There are few things as disappointing as restaurants who try to fancy-up their food with strange ingredients as opposed to just making it delicious with the right preparation and cooking (ie. Rosemary does NOT belong in brownies). This place has elegant dishes that look great, smell good and taste fantastic (looks fancy, but tastes like hearty, delicious home cooking). From delicious, juicy chicken to melt-in-your-mouth beef, everything we had was fantastic. Definitely recommend.
