Nicknamed CP’s, the menu showcases Pawlcyn’s inimitable talent for fresh, tantalizing American Wine Country comfort food with made-from-scratch dishes such as Sweet Crispy Pork Belly, Dad’s House-made Potato Chips with bleu cheese dip, Brown Derby Cobb salad, Napa Cab Braised Short Ribs, Niman Ranch Burger with Cindy’s Secret Sauce, and West Coast Crab Roll. An award-winning wine program features the largest by-the-glass wine list in the Napa Valley as well as the signature ‘Vintner Splash’ on Saturday nights where local boutique vintners share complimentary tastes of their wines. Was a quick stop at the bar because we had a taste for oysters and champagne, and they had them. Delicious oysters from Washington. Okay decor, clean and modern. The biggest plus were our two bartender-waiters. They were funny, entertaining , polite, helpful , and great with the wine-champ selections. We were eating at their sister restaurant Mustards that nite, and they tried their best to get us to stay. next time we will, just for them.

“Delicious!”

Just dropping in this restaurant on our way past was the best thing we have ever done! The food was fantastic and the wait-staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, it's a rare find. I will eat there every time we go to St.Helena!!

“YUM!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We grabbed a couple of appetizers to take home after a long day of tourings & tastings.

The squash blossom quesadilla was delicious but we didn't see any squash blossom in the quesadilla. Maybe it was mixed into the dough? Regardless, it was wonderful and we would order again.

We also had the eggplant fries which were excellent! Next time we're visiting the area, we will stop in and have dinner at the restaurant.

“Sometimes less is more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

We are nearing the end of our one month stay in the Napa Valley. During this time we have eaten at many of the best known restaurants in the area and have visited some of the top wineries. A visit here would not be complete without eating at one of Cindy Pawlcyn's restaurants. We chose the Wood Grill and Wine Bar because of its interesting menu and extensive wine list. We especially liked the idea of the 500 ml carafe. 1/2 bottle is not really enough for an entire meal and a whole bottle is just a little too much. We ordered the Venge Sangiovese. It was a good accompaniment to our meal choices.

My husband and I shared the salt and pepper calamari for our appetizer. It was served with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. It was a nice change from the tomato sauces you usually get. For the main course my husband ordered the drunken blue burger. He is a huge burger fan and this was the third burger that he's had in the past week. So when he said that this was the best burger he's had in a long time, you can better believe that it was delicious.

I ordered the sole amandine over spinach. It was ok. The fish was well cooked , but a pile of overly toasted almonds were heaped on top of the fish and spread over the plate. This did nothing but detract from the flavor of the fish. The spinach was overly salted. At first I thought that it was the fish that was salty, but when I pushed the spinach aside and removed the almonds, the delicious flavor of the fish came through.

We chose to sit outside. Although the service was excellent and the ambience wonderful, I must admit I was disappointed with my main course.

“Large group of visitors to napa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

We were a large group, 15 in total, that booked an early dinner mid-week with diverse food likes/dislikes (a mixed group of Chinese, Swedes, Dutch, Irish and Americans). At the restaurant's recommendation we agreed to a pre-arranged reduced menu selection to enable prompt service, etc.

All were delighted by the appetizer selection; from squash flowers, calamari, bruschetta w/fresh tomato and burata, and sausage pizza. Salads and entrees all were delicious (steak, fish and veg selection) served to all at the same time. Wine selections were vast and our local cabernet franc and chardonnay didn't disappoint.

Overall a great choice with really good service. We were worried that serving a group this size would be choppy and not well organized; the restaurant and staff handled it perfectly with a delicious selection of food many with local ingredients.

Kudos to Cindy's!
