“Great host and fantastic spot”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

We stayed in September 2013 and rented the separate cottage on this property. Jeff was a wonderful welcoming host with a deep affection and understanding of all things wine and very willing to share his extensive wine cellar. He is also a fantastic chef - breakfasts are not to be missed with fresh baking and full eggs, juice, etc. The cottage is outstanding, big, beautifully finished with your own massive deck with heaters. I loved the location, we were an easy 5 minute drive from St. Helena but on the other side of the valley so we used the Silverado Trail for traversing the valley, a quieter route with some of the best wineries in the valley. I would stay her again for sure. Thanks Jeff for a lovely time, lots of laughs and great help with all our plans.

Room Tip: The cottage is great for two couples but the main house has lots of lovely rooms too.

We stayed here for our October 2013 Honeymoon and just loved it! It was so quiet and relaxing, and Jeff the Innkeeper was an incredible host. He helped us navigate wine country and made us a delicious breakfast each morning. The Black Rock Inn is tucked away from everything, but located near all the wineries so it was a good mix of away from it all without really being away from it all. Loved this place and highly recommend!

Room Tip: Stay in suite 2!

On our trip to Napa we were lucky enough to find Black Rock Inn. I was absolutely thrilled to stay in such a beautiful home with GREAT decor. Jeff was a wonderful host and provided us with not only first class hospitality but, great suggestions on what to see and do. The rooms had a very relaxing feel and the beds were so comforting to sleep in. I DID NOT want to leave. We will be back! See you in 2015 Jeff!!!!

We spent a portion of our honeymoon at Black Rock Inn a month ago after heavily researching many places to stay, and we were so glad we did! The property is beautiful, and just about a 5 min drive from St. Helena. Our room was toward the front of the main house and was very cute. The bathroom was large and had a beautiful dual shower. There was gorgeous light flowing into the room, which was warming and welcoming. Breakfast is served by Jeff downstairs and is quite good. Exactly what you want to prepare your stomach with for a fun day of wine tasting. Jeff, the host, is very accommodating and a fun guy to chat with. He gave us great tips for sight-seeing as well as off the beaten path wine-tasting. Every night we enjoyed hanging out chatting with him and other guests over a bottle of wine from his gorgeous cellar and the main table. We plan to stay again during our next wine country visit and have no hesitation recommending this place to anyone. (During our stay, other guests included 2 brothers on a wine tour weekend, as well as a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary along with one of their daughters. So, it's clearly a comfy place for all types of travelers/trips).

We spent 4 days at the Black Rock Inn and it was the most wonderful mini vacation in Napa ever.
Jeff, the Innkeeper , made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. But first let me say the inn is hidden off Silverado Trail so you don't hear any traffic at all. The inn is just beautiful and The grounds are so scenic that when you come back after a long day of wine tasting all you want to do is sit outside and enjoy the experience , day or night. Our room was quite large and comfortable , adorned with beautiful fresh flowers . It had a spa tub and private outdoor deck.
Jeff has an incredible wine cellar built into the inn from the mountainside . He not only gave us a tour of it but asked us what bottle we would like to try. We would sit and relax in the late afternoon before dinner and wine taste with him. It was a wonderful intimate experience. Jeff also arranged boutique winery tastings and lunch for us. They were small family wineries we could never have found on our own . Even our boxed lunch was to die for. Jeff was even flexible with the time we wanted our delicious breakfast which he personally prepared in the morning with both decaf and regular coffee brewing just for the two of us. Our trip to St. Helena was fabulous . We owe it all to Jeff and his incredible Black Rock Inn. We cannot wait to come back.

Room Tip: We chose our room based on the outside deck we wanted but other Rooms were good if you were with ano...

Jeff and The Black Rock showed us a terrific time. The house is only a few years old and was built originally as a bed and breakfast so the accommodations were ideal. Four rooms in the main house plus a separate house on the grounds which can accommodate three couples. Our room was very large with a nice private balcony off the back. Large king bed with top quality linens. The bathroom was also large and had a Jacuzzi tub as well as a large shower.
Inn Keeper Jeff really made the trip special. From his hearty breakfasts to his afternoon wine tastings his high energy level and personality made everyone feel at home. He recommended restaurants that were new to us and got us into wineries that were not only new to us but were places that we probably couldn't have gotten to experience without an advance reservation. He knows the valley. You will too after a stay at The Black Rock Inn.

If you are visiting the Napa Valley, the Black Rock Inn is the place to stay. Jeff has created the perfect spot to relax and unwind after your Valley tour. He knows the best wineries, and restaurants, and makes the best Breakfast in the Valley. I will be back in the spring.

Room Tip: They are all perfect!!!!!
