We visited this vineyard on Valentines Day. It was recommended by Knight Wine Tours- our private tour guide for the day. Once there, Travis was our guide of the vineyard. It was just my husband and I- we had generous wine tastings with in depth information on each as well as the history of the vineyard and an incredible tour of the wine cave with a barrel tasting of wine in the french oak and the american oak barrels. It was topped off with our private lunch overlooking the vineyard on a beautiful 75 degree day. I can't wait to get the wine I had shipped home!

Flora Springs continually produces wonderful wine and is a great host at their tasting room. The room is modern, totally different in the area, and the staff is very friendly - even when crowded. Great explanation of the various wines are provided and you always feel like family.

Tasting room is right on Route 29. Too many young people who are there to look like 20-somethings, and don't know a whole lot about wine. They purchase most of their grapes from other sources. Too many varietals. A tasting room going after trends, not wine.

Our driver Bruce, with California Wine Tours, suggested this winery for our group of 24. We were greeted by Travis as he poured a glass of wine immediately upon our arrival. Harvesting was going on and we were allowed to get within a few feet of the working equipment and view the process. Then we entered their cave and has a tasting straight out of the barrel - one French oak and one American oak. We then had a seated lunch on Flora's porch (yes, there really is a Flora and she's 100, but she doesn't live there anymore). That's where the actual tasting took place, along with our lunch. It was our group's favorite tasting experience. The whole thing took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The wine was good, too. Ask for Travis!

Really. That's what made us stop!

We had just had a horrendous experience at Whitehall where we were completely ignored, (wrote a yelp review but will write one here too,) so we drove a short distance and saw this really interesting looking building, called Flora Springs, and decided to stop in.
Completely different experience, I'm happy to say. There were a good number of people tasting there, but not overly crowded.

Jake comes over and introduces himself, and proceeds to bring out glasses and tell us about the wines. He also brings out a nice little plate with some cheeses, nuts, and dried fruit, to accompany the wine. He is great, the wine is very good, and we actually end up joining their wine club.
He told us that if we came back that Thursday, they were having a special lunch for members, pulled pork sandwiches for $9. Apparently there is a butcher shop behind the winery and they do these lunches. Well, we decided to give it a try. It was great! They have a nice outdoor seating area so we ate our sandwiches out there... It was a very nice quiet break during a busy tasting/touring day.

Highly recommend a tasting here!
