Having enjoyed Duckhorn wine at home in Texas, we were eager to visit this winery. We stopped by on Saturday, September 1st to inquire about reservations for Sunday. We were treated rudely by the host (Zach?), but secured resevations for Sunday at 1:00pm. We spoke with Melissa outside and she persuaded us to try the garden tasting which did not require reservations. Melissa was very helpful and pleasant. The garden tasting was relaxing and restful. We appreciated Melissa's kindness. When we returned on Sunday, the inside hostess was abrupt and informed us that our tasting was "comped". We were escorted to a small table against the wall with no view and in the path to and from the kitchen. Our tasting host was friendly, but had excuse herself to go to lunch and the bartender would complete our tasting. The inside tasting was very sparsely attended and we never received any pairings to accompany the wine offerings. Very nice facility. But, we were very disappointed with our experience at Duckhorn.

Our group of four really enjoyed our visit at Duckhorn. We signed up for a full food & wine tasting and were very pleased that we did. Our server was young, energetic and knowledgeable. The wine tasting process was organized, informative and casual. The food that accompanied the wines was minimal but appropriate i.e. cheese bites, nuts, dried fruit and olives. We probably lingered for as much as two hours over our tasting, and fully enjoyed the experience.

While the $30 tasting fee does not seem to be waived, the generous tastings were worth it. very nice to sit outside.

Nice deck area to do the tastings and we loved the little crackers they served with the cheese/meat plate. We ended up ordering a bunch of them on line (Rustic Bakery)

If you like Merlot's and big Cab's enjoyed in a beautiful setting in- doors , or outside on the relaxing deck. Surrounded by their vineyards , the staff will enhance your visit with their expertise and the tasting of these fabulous wines. These are stellar wines, not to be missed if you like your reds. Make a reservation if you can or get lucky and stop in.
