We recently hosted 10 family memebers at Greystone for a dinner for a special occasion. One of my sons is an alum of CIA - Hyde Park, and we were excited to show off the CIA to our family. There were positives and negatives, as with any experience. Our server did his best to make the evening flow smoothly despite the mishaps of the chef. We have no issue with him.
Note: Students do not run the restaurant on Saturday evenings, professionals do- the kitchen staff was horrific.
First course: an hour after we ordered the firsts came out in a staggered basis. While good, several of us were missing items ordered. My husband and I had the dinner for two...should have been a no brainier for the chef, but he continually failed to expedite the order. We received our first after members of our party and only after the chef told our server he f**d up. A vegetarian dish was served with chorizo and had to be redone. As the main courses came out, staggered again, our steak made an appearance. Ordered it medium rare, received quite well done. Back to the kitchen while, the chef argued it was medium rare. I can cook this better and I am not a professionally trained chef. Absolutely no seasoning on the steak. Another member of our party had a steak that also was devoid of any seasoning. our entire dining experience took well over 3 hours, not okay. Read reviews after and found that when students run it is great. Not so much with the professional staff. Highly disappointed.
