Owner description: V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned property located in the heart of Napa Valley, which was founded in 1885 and makes more than 60 different wines with dozens of 90+ point rated wines among its current vintages. It is a stunning, must-see Napa Valley destination for picnics, weddings and events, offering an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli directed by Chef Gerardo Sainato, and a Salumeria directed by Stefano Masanti. The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees and tri-level terraces that overlook beautifully manicured gardens and vineyards.

“Great mid-day stop!”
Reviewed May 7, 2006

The best thing about V. Sattui Winery is not the wine, it's the atmosphere! I lived in the Bay Area for a few years, and we went up wine tasting about once every month or so. We would map out our route, then plan in a stop at V. Sattui mid-day. We would buy their picnic packs (plates, cups, knives and forks) and then buy fabulous cheeses, meats and bread at the deli. Uncork a couple of bottles of recently purchased (at other wineries or there) wine, and have a great picnic on the grounds. We still do this when we meet back in Napa every year for a long weekend. It's the perfect place to relax in the sun and regroup! I highly recommend it. (unless you are a true wine snob and can't sit at a picnic table to drink wine.....)

“Our favorite!”
Reviewed April 10, 2006

Loved V Sattui! Tasting was FREE which, as it turns out, is somewhat of a rarity in the Napa area. Attached deli turns out great sandwiches and you can buy your lunch and wine and have a little picnic right there on the grounds.

Before our trip to Napa/Sonoma, I was most excited about visiting V. Sattui. This was largely owing to the stellar reviews here on TripAdvisor. This place has a few things going for it: their tasting menu is long, tasting is free, the staff are friendly, and the Italian market has gifts, food items, and cheeses. They advertise that their wines are less expensive than the competition, but that is because their wines are inferior. Our hotel gave us a VIP pass where we could try everything, rather than the standard tasting list. Sadly, we were disappointed with almost every wine we tried. If you want to get intoxicated on free drinks, you will probably like this place. However, if you are serious about wine, don't bother stopping here. Rather than going to Sattui, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Viansa Winery and Italian Marketplace in Sonoma. There you will find incredible wine (lots of Italian varietals), beautiful scenery, and a comparable Italian market.

“dont miss!”
Reviewed January 22, 2006

I recently went to wine country with my cousin who is a frequenter. This winery is her favorite and now its mine, also! The staff is great at helping you to taste the wines. There are numerous ones to choose from. The atmosphere was very casual. There isnt a "tasting fee". I liked several of the wines, especially the 2002 henry ranch merlot and sent a case home. We visited over 20 and this is definately not one to miss!

“Don't Miss This Place”
Reviewed December 5, 2005

Visited there in November 3rd and really enjoyed the experience. The place was working alive with people and they were carrying multiple bottles of wine out with them. My wife can only drink white wines and is very partial to Chardonnays. She found the 2004 Napa Valley Chardonnay to her liking and bought a bottle. She found the 2004 Savignon Blanc very tasty and she bought a bottle of that as well. I personally fell in love with the their Old Vine Zinfadel and brought 2 bottles home with me. If they ever accept applications for Wine Clubs, you can bet I'll be all over that!
