Owner description: V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned property located in the heart of Napa Valley, which was founded in 1885 and makes more than 60 different wines with dozens of 90+ point rated wines among its current vintages. It is a stunning, must-see Napa Valley destination for picnics, weddings and events, offering an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli directed by Chef Gerardo Sainato, and a Salumeria directed by Stefano Masanti. The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees and tri-level terraces that overlook beautifully manicured gardens and vineyards.

“Awful, too many tourists and terrible service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Its to bad that the owners of this winery have turned this place into a commercialized stop. Terrible wine tasting experience, rude sommeliers and its a total tourist trap. I would NEVER advise anyone to visit here, unless you prefer a rushed and very unrefined wine tasting experience. Awful!!

“By far my Favourite!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We travel here every time we go to Calistoga and you will see why. The pairings are worth the money, the cellar is beautiful, the deli has wonderful food and the grounds exquisite. This is a family friendly winery and we loved everything about it including the ability to buy food and wine and picnic in the grounds. A must stop!

“Only at the winery...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Be sure to stop at V. Sattui for at least an hour or more, especially during warm, sunny weather, during your next visit to the Napa Valley. V. Sattui wines are world-class, and generally available for purchase only at the winery, or wine club membership. The winery is a popular destination and is usually pretty crowded (especially the main tasting room and adjacent delicatessen), but is quieter during weekdays and off-season. There are plenty of picnic tables available on the grounds which customers of the winery and deli may enjoy under huge, beautiful old oak trees. If after tasting, you enjoy the wines so much as to buy a case or two (I do!), and become a repeat purchaser of cases of wine (also available on futures from barrel tasting) you may qualify to participate with guests in the members-only complimentary tasting in the downstairs wine cellar tasting room in the large building adjacent to the tasting room and deli building. This enables you and guests to enjoy a much less hectic and more personalized tasting experience amidst the coolness and wonderful aroma of the wine cellar, along with barrel tastings of the latest vintages if you are thinking about purchasing wine on futures. The various events the winery holds throughout the year are very fun and festive, we never miss the annual release and barrel tasting party the last Saturday evening in January, both a wine and food event. The deli has great food and literally hundreds of varieties of cheese, along with wine that may be purchased for consumption on the picnic grounds with whatever you order from the deli. Don't visit the Napa Valley without experiencing this food and wine oasis!

“A beautiful winery with a nice selection of wine, a deli, and picnic area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

This was my favorite winery on our trip to Napa. It has a great deli with lots of options and a picnic area where you can enjoy your lunch and open a bottle of wine! The wine tastings were good also and relatively inexpensive. This was the only place that offered (for purchase) a box with styrofoam lining that holds 6 bottles of wine. You check it with your luggage and it is marked fragile. The box had to pick it up at a special place in the airport, it doesn't come out with the luggage due to being fragile. We live in Pennsylvania and most wineries do not ship there, so this was a great option for us.

“Great winery and deli”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Six tastings each for $10 (we had a 1/2 off coupon.). All the pours were generous so we were easily able to share tastings for 12 different wines and then they gave us an extra tasting. We loved their port wines. The deli was phenomenal and eating out at the picnic area was very pleasant even in March. We saw them bottling wine. The bottlers were very willing to speak with us and answer questions even though they were working. We had lots of fun at this winery and we highly recommend it.
