Owner description: V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned property located in the heart of Napa Valley, which was founded in 1885 and makes more than 60 different wines with dozens of 90+ point rated wines among its current vintages. It is a stunning, must-see Napa Valley destination for picnics, weddings and events, offering an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli directed by Chef Gerardo Sainato, and a Salumeria directed by Stefano Masanti. The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees and tri-level terraces that overlook beautifully manicured gardens and vineyards.

Lush grounds allow picning or touring however the tasting offer is mass produced and unpersonal. Enjoyed the grounds and a deli allows patrons to wine and dine on the grounds. Chose the basic tasting option ($10) and our sommlier was trying to manage at least 4 groups simutaneously without providing much information or recommendations. Allowed to chose 6 tastings from 2 pages of wine, and found the Syrah was ok and the Madiera was a unique treat. Otherwise the sampling disappointed, especially after following our delicious tour at Beaulieu (granted their choice was about $125 / bottle but it was a hard act to follow). Still worth it for the picnic option & ability to check out the vinards. Beautiful location, skip the tasting and opt for lunch.

It seems that V Sattui has a commendable ambition - to make wine tasting and appreciation an event for everybody, not just wine buffs. And they succeed in almost evert aspect - the deli was good, the cheese shop even better and the ample picnic facilities and wine cellar/exhibition good all around. The only problem was that the place was so popular (even on a Wednesday afternoon) that the actual wine tasting facilities were a little bit crowded and hence the staff there a little bit rushed.

I came here for a get away with my wife. We heard this is a small winery with beautiful scenery.
It is very beautiful here. We walked around the area and it is lovely. We went into the wine cell and smell all the wine and oat and visited the small museum. We are not really wine person but we truly enjoy the visit.
We got warned by our inn keeper that this place can get very crowded because it is popular. That was a great advice because I also feel the same way. You will never enjoy any place if there are a tons of people walking around you.
Try to avoid the peak time, we came early in the morning so there was not a lot of people.

Wine was decent by Napa standards -- not our favorite but flavorful, robust, and tasty Nevertheless, we got take outs from their Deli(- also very good) and ate in their picnic area. My wife bought gift baskets for Xmas presents, again Sattui's was very accomendating and gave her a quality gift. I think of this place as kind of a one stop shop -- they have a little of everything. We will definately be back.

We visited this winery for the picnic field it has but of course let us not forget the wines, deli and wide variety of cheese and dips.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside the wine hall all the shoving just to get a clearing in the counter to taste the wine felt like my time in the carnival in Koeln I loved it.
The best, is the picnic time with our friends, eating sandwiches from the deli with cheese and wine perfect!
