Owner description: V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned property located in the heart of Napa Valley, which was founded in 1885 and makes more than 60 different wines with dozens of 90+ point rated wines among its current vintages. It is a stunning, must-see Napa Valley destination for picnics, weddings and events, offering an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli directed by Chef Gerardo Sainato, and a Salumeria directed by Stefano Masanti. The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees and tri-level terraces that overlook beautifully manicured gardens and vineyards.

“Exceptional Wines”

Winery tour was short and interesting. Selection of wines for tasting ranged from full bodied red wines to rather delicate dessert wines. Fun experience.

This winery shares space with a retail store selling cheeses, savories and other goodies. Definitely a tourist attraction and perhaps too commercial for a true oenophile. That being said, the persons pouring wine for guests are very cheerful and enthusiastic about their products. We opted for the reserve or premium tasting ($15 pp) and sampled a total of 6 wines. They were perfectly fine but didn't leave much of an impression.

“busy but worth the hassle”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

We went in the middle of the week when most other wineries and tasting rooms were empty. That was not the case for V. Sattui. The tasting room was packed and we had to elbow our way towards the tasting bar. It was worth it. We didn't taste a wine we didn't like. The servers were incredibly helpful. The sandwiches from the deli were to die for (though a little pricey). I recommend buying a bottle of wine and some sandwiches and having lunch in the picnic area. Then go buy a case of wine for home. Great wine and great winery!

“Great wines and a wonderful picnic spot”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

Sattui has some excellent wines and they sell only at the winery. They also have a shop with wine accessories and a deli where you can purchase a great variety of cheeses, custom-made sandwiches, and deli meats. Because we were there on a weekend, they also had a barbecue offering steaks, ribs, pizza, barbecued artichokes, etc. The grounds are lovely and offer a great place to eat what you've purchased. They allow you to consume only wines purchased at the winery. The winery can be very crowded. I would recommend arriving well before traditional dining times.

“A Great Old Friend!”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

We've been coming to V.Sattui for ten years and make it a stop on every visit to Napa. The wines are moderately priced and very good and the deli is world class. The very best mid-day stop in the Napa Valley after a morning of tasting is going to V.Sattui, getting a fruity crisp white wine, a loaf of french bread, brie, pate, and a picnic table. This is what Napa is all about!
