“GREAT LOCATION”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

Wonderful, quiet hotel. Great breakfast and wine and cheese. Beautiful views. My only complaint would be that I did not feel safe in the shuttle. Two different seat belts were broken, the very nice older gentlemen was talking on cell phone and driving. (not a good combination in my opinion).

We stayed at Wine Country Inn for 2 nights in September. The setting and the gardens are gorgeous. Our room was in the main house and overlooked the vineyard...what a beautiful way to wake up in the morning with the sun rising over the vineyards. One of the many pluses is that every evening a different winery comes to the inn for a wine tasting from 430-6. In addition to the free wine tasting the inn prepares delicious dips, spreads, veggies, etc for the happy hour. The inn also booked our dinner reservations for us ahead of time and provided free shuttle service. Another big plus that we took advantage of was the inncursion. Marty, our guide and chef. took us on a personal tour along with another very fun couple whom we just met that morning. We had so much fun...Marty was a great host and also a great chef who prepared our lunch back at the inn before heading out for one more wine tasting. In all we visited 4 boutique wineries and I will say that we had very personal attention and that the wines were delicious. This is a great asset that they offer. When we return to the area we definitely will stay at The Wine Country Inn. Our only regret is that we wished we could have stayed longer.

Great location for the Napa Valley and the Silverado trail / wine tasting. The grounds of the Inn are beautifully kept, very pretty & outside pool. Our room had views of the vineyards and the hills in the background. The room was spacious, wood burning stove, lovely balcony, fabulous window seat and comfortable 4 poster.
Although the Inn didn't have a restaurant the breakfast was excellent, the home made granola truly is delicious and other home made hot egg dishes and preserves. The early evening wine tasting with homemade apertisers is a nice touch and allows the guests to mingle sharing stories of the days wine tastings.
The staff are friendly and really helpful made us feel very welcome, home from home.
Can't wait to stay here again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights the beginning of September. We stayed in room 26 that has a private hot tub, which was AMAZING. We used it a few nights and it was so peaceful & private, the sky was lit up with stars. You really feel like your in the country, we heard animals making noises in the "not-so-distance". The room was small, but we are kind of high-maintenence packers and still had enough room for our luggage. I liked that the shower and toilet was seperate than the vanity and mirror area. The little refrigerator was nice to have in the room as well. The setting is spectacular and it's sooo peaceful here. For $550 p night the room was nothing fancy. Very cute, but spendy for what you got. I've stayed at numerous bed and breakfasts before. The staff was very accomadating and friendly...but neither of us were very impressed with breakfast. I'm a vegetarian and some mornings was surprised that there was no meat for meat eaters like my boyfriend. They have a make yourself waffle station, which was ok. Every morning some weird kind of egg casserole was made that was usually arleady cold and kind of weird tasting. I usually just ate an english muffin and fresh fruit. I was hoping for french toast or pancakes, maybe some sort of breakfast potatoes. But we got full enough. I woudln't stay here again, but that's only because there are soo many places to stay I want to experience another one. The restaurants in town are busy and close early, so make reservations. The restaurants here are amaaaazing. I LOVED Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, Gott's Roadside Cafe, Martini House, and Rutherford Grill. You will have a very enjoyable stay here, just don't expect a gourmet bed and breakfast style breakfast with your stay.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to the Wine Country Inn to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. Everything about the Inn met or exceeded our expectations. We planned a Monday - Thursday stay and reserved room 19 which has a patio looking out over the vineyards on the property and the olive groves. Breakfast had a really nice selection - make sure to look up on the shelves near the toaster, they have lots of fruit, scones and muffins tucked away there. I had bananas drizzled with yogurt and sprinkled with pecans for breakfast one morning. They also make their own granola which is delicious. Every morning was a different egg dish - "Inn-Chilada" , "Death by Cheese" and an italian marinara version while we were there. All were delicious! If you aren't into eggs, they have a waffle bar with all kinds of toppings.

We signed up for the Inn Cursion for our first full day there and were joined by two other couples. We had a great group which really added to the experience. Tracy was our driver and took us to five wineries over the course of the day. We came back to the inn for lunch and had grilled salmon and tri-tips with mixed greens. The food was delicious and it was nice to have the break mid-day before heading back out to try more wine. The first winery we visited was Allora, which we would never have found on our own, but was one of our favorites on trip. Wonderful wines and a wonderful owner to share them with us. We got back just in time for the nightly wine tasting and appetizers. Each night featured artisan cheeses, crusty breads with dipping oil, their homeade salsa, and usually several types of dips and spreads served with crackers and chips. Perfect snacks to tide you over until dinner time and to bring out the flavors of the wines.

The rooms were well furnished - ours had a jetted tub and a separate sitting room with a couch. The bed was very comfortable and we did not hear anyone our entire stay although we believe the Inn was either booked or close to it. We also took advantage of the hot tub, which was a REAL hot tub, not lukewarm water like most these days. It was great at night when the temperature cooled down and they provide you with robes in your room to wear down to the tub/pool area. The grounds were amazing - well maintained with beautiful flowers and herbs growing everywhere.

The nightly restaurant shuttle was great - Janelle was a real pleasure and gave great insider tips for the restaurants so we knew just what to order!

Another great service is their ability to ship wine home for you. You need to fill out paperwork detailing the wine (so they can insure it) but it turned out to be less expensive to ship the wine UPS ground from California than to pay for our own shipping box and check it as luggage on the way home. Granted, it takes a few days to ship, but not having to lug a 30+ lb box of wine to the airport has its perks!

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Wine Country Inn. We came from Kauai, Hawaii and decided to end our honeymoon in St. Helena. The Inn was really beautiful, (not as big as I thought it would be after looking at the website but really cute and quaint, just like a cottage inn should be.) The grounds are really pretty with rose gardens and everything is maintained perfectly. We stayed in #24 and had an entire floor to ourselves. Our room was really cute and reminded us of an old cabin. I thought it would be a little more updated, (the bathroom door had a hole in it and didn't close properly and some windows had screens, others didn't,) but my husband and I kind of like that old cabin feel. The jacuzzi was wonderful and everything felt very clean and taken care of.

The staff was amazing. Guy, who works in the kitchen, was especially friendly and always made us feel welcome. Their breakfast was wonderful and everything was very fresh. We especially liked the fresh picked tomatoes and the waffle bar. Every day the Inn features a tasting from a local vineyard and also prepares appetizers which are SO good. The best part is that they have recipe cards for each item so you can take tastes from wine country home with you!

We loved our stay and would definitely return. I would be eager to try another room just to see how they differ. We had come from the St. Regis Princeville and found the WCI to be more relaxing and accommodating. Thanks WCI for allowing us to end our honeymoon on such a high note!

My husband and I planned a last minute getaway to Napa Valley and ended up at The Wine Country Inn through the help of a Napa reservation company. We stayed in Room #25 (aka The Rooster Room). The room had country charm but not over the top and it was tastefully decorated. Though we usually require a TV in the room (which the room did not have), we found it very cozy and relaxing with the in-room fireplace and radio/iPod player. Our favorite aspect was the private outdoor hot tub - a great way to end the day!

The landscaping throughout the grounds were lovely, and the main house of the Inn was warm and inviting. We took advantage of the complimentary breakfast, which offered a fantastic spread of cereals, breads, and fruits and even a homemade egg casserole and freshly made salsa.

The staff could not have been more friendly. They will even take care of dinner reservations for you and provide a complimentary car service to/from restaurants within the St. Helena area.

The only average rating I would give would be for the shower. Though it was very clean and had great water pressure, it was a bit small and had a low shower head. All in all, I would definitely recommend The Wine Country Inn to anyone looking for a quiet and cozy getaway tucked away in a lovely, convenient spot in Napa Valley.
