I agree with the other posters comments; location works well, clean hotel, nice staff. If one were to pay half the rate it would be a truly good find--it's just hard to justify the rate. We paid over $500 for a hotel that shouldn't cost a penny more than $250 a night.

Room Tip: We paid the extra for a room that was supposed to be a superior view--do yourself a favor and skip that--it wasn't worth it--ultimately, we overlooked the highway.

We only stayed here two nights, but we will definitely be back! St. Helena is the heart of Napa Valley and this hotel puts guests right in its center. The small lobby manages to be stylish and welcoming, a very good thing, reserving space for guest rooms. The rooms feel more like a relative's spacious master bedroom that has been loaned out rather than a hotel. Great restaurants are adjacent to the property or within walking distance. And we were given complimentary access to the spa next door. Absolutely loved it and we got an excellent price as part of the wine tour we were on.

I stayed at Southbridge last weekend and think its a great spot. The rooms were so clean and I am VERY picky about that. The rooms are also bigger than the average for a hotel and each room has a working fireplace. There were great places to eat within walking distance (Farmstead, Tra Vigne, Market, Gotta) as well as wineries. Someone mentioned merryvale not being free for Southbridge visitors- merryvale did give us a 2 for 1 tasting. Also Bello vineyards was a free tasting for Southbridge visitors and is right across the street. I am sure there are more in the area that have agreements with Southbridge. I am not sure what the expectations are from those on here that complained about the breakfast but its perfect- not too heavy before the winery visits but enough to feel full. Cereal, fruit, pastries, breads, bagels, coffee, juice, teas.
Staying at Southbridge also gave us access to Meadowood for the day which was nice for spa, pool, lunch and more wine.

Like another reviewer, I was puzzled that this hotel was part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. It's well located for exploring the Napa valley wineries, and the staff are extremely helpful, but there's no special character to the place. There's no on-site catering, and the breakfast offering is poor in terms of choice - continental style with a very limited selection of fresh fruit, cereals and bread/pastries. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, but nothing special.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend - there's better value to be had elsewhere.

Kind guest, thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. Thoughtful service is of utmost importance to us at Southbridge, and we believe our location in downtown St. Helena celebrates the quintessential wine country experience. Due to our intimate size we have partnered with our sister property, Meadowood Napa Valley, and neighboring Pizzeria Tra Vigne for our on-site catering options. Our breakfast also includes beloved items from local St. Helena purveyors such as Model Bakery and Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company. Should you wish to return to Southbridge to re-experience our service and location, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. Marcelle Adderley (707) 967-9400

I was not impressed. Very misleading hotel being part of the Small Hotels of the World and a sister property to Meadowood. Meadowood is hands down the best property in Napa Valley. Very surprised that they are affiliated with Inn at Southbridge. The service was good but the rooms were certainly not up to par with the price. The furnishings were old and need to be redone. I have stayed at numerous places in Napa - all luxurious with wonderful service. To be honest, I've stayed at National chains that were more luxurious than The Inn at Southbridge. Not what I would have expected for nearly $500 per night. Also, their website says they have a bottle of Merryvale wine in your room plus a free wine tasting at Merryvale but they don't offer the Merryvale wine tasting any longer and the bottle of wine is from Starmont (Merryvale's mass production winery). Some good points - the service was good, the pool/fitness center excellent and you are close to town. If the property was redone and the amenities for the price were increased, this could be a much better property.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am disappointed to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We do apologize for the error on the SLH website with respect to the erroneous mention of the Merryvale tasting being included with your stay. We will follow up with them to get this updated. We are very happy with our current wine tasting option at Tamber Bey and hope that as a SLH member you were able to take advantage of this complimentary experience. We recognize there are certain areas of our property that will benefit from refreshing. This is why, in late January, we added brand new fine terry guest robes to all of our rooms along with upgraded linens and luxury bedding. We will continue to debut refreshed soft goods this coming year. Service is at the heart of what we do at Southbridge and we believe this is how we are most closely aligned with Meadowood. Thank you for your comments about service and location, we hope that this will be something that will bring you back for another visit in the future. If I may be of personal assistance with booking your return visit, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. Marcelle Adderley (707) 967-9400.
