Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer
Ranked #4 of 9 Hotels in St. Helena
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 13, 2013

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena part way up the Napa Valley. It was all that we were looking for in terms of location, accommodations and service. The inn is location convenient to many wineries but north of the busier town of Napa itself. St. Helena has a charming downtown and several very good dining spots. Parking is ample and close to the rooms. Our room was large with a fireplace and small patio that looked out on one of the several spa pools. Breakfast is included and located in another building which gives you the chance to walk through the lush gardens and view vineyards just behind the property. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived early and they served us complimentary wine in their main lodge while we waited. It is expensive but we definitely recommend the Harvest Inn for couples.

Room Tip: Rooms with views of the gardens are nice.

We stayed here because I had a conference in Napa and I didn't stay in Napa because of the hotel choices. I would have preferred staying at Bardessono, but there was no availability. I stayed here based on Tripadvisor reviews. For the price ($649/night,) I was expecting more. We stayed in a King room with fireplace and balcony. It was a large room and pretty clean room. The free bottle of wine was a nice touch. I had flowers and chocolate delivered to the room prior to our arrival. The arrangement was beautiful and the chocolates memorable. However, the room was lacking in decor. It was rather basic. I was expecting a rustic, but luxurious cabin in the woods room with more wall decor and furniture. The big room just seemed rather sparse. It didn't exude opulence. The breakfast was delicious and the selection was enough for us healthy living dieters. The grounds were well-maintained, but nothing really special. The staff was nice. We didn't stay for the afternoon wine tastings so we can't comment on that. I give this place 4 stars because the rooms weren't anything memorable and the walls were paper thin. I give it three stars, because for the price, it was rather average.

Got a one bedroom that had a hot tub on the back deck and overlooked the vineyards. Very nice. Very interesting stone work especially on the huge room fire places. Came with wood to burn and a bottle of wine.

Dear Bradrocklin,

Thank you so much for your comments about your recent stay with us. We appreciate it very much.

The spa vineyards view rooms are such a great room, with so much to offer. Large hand crafted brick fireplaces with plenty of wood, private vineyard views from your patio, and to top it off, your own Jacuzzi.

Thank you again, and we do hope to see you again in the near future!

Spent just one night at Harvest Inn to celebrate a milestone birthday, and it was really wonderful. Room was excellent, comfortable and spacious... and the large private deck was spectacular for the unobstructed vineyard view and quiet sunset. No traffic noise from the highway in room 304, and it's just steps to the spa and pool. Husband had a double dip in the spa and loved it. The attention to detail in the rooms is worth noting, with lots of little touches I appreciated. AND, the friendly, accommodating staff engage with guests, say good morning and good evening, and work their tails off. We felt welcome right from the get-go. The next morning one nice staffer even helped me carry a rather heavy breakfast tray back to my room. The grounds are gorgeous and fun to explore. You can't go wrong with room 304! (And thanks for a great time, Debbie.)

Dear Jean846,

All of us at Harvest Inn are honored that you chose our property to celebrate your “milestone” birthday! Room 304 must have been a perfect room for this trip; the large brick fireplace, the gorgeous views to the west to enjoy the sunset, and being close enough to the pool and spa to enjoy at any time, day or night.

The staff at Harvest Inn love making everyone feel at home, from simple greetings, to helping in any way possible; and the grounds staff work tirelessly to make sure the grounds are at their most beautiful in every season.

Thank you for celebrating with us, and we hope to see you again soon!

you will barely notice it from the highway if you werent looking for it. sits right on hwy 29, but once you drive into the property, you move into a secluded location with redwoods, flowers and lush landscaping. also backs up to a vineyard with some rooms looking out to. small one and two story buildings dot the property and the main building has that old stone country inn feel that includes the front desk, comfortable sitting area and wine bar in the back with cozy fireplace. stay includes breakfast, which is adequate but not elaborate. has a small outdoor patio seating area overlooking vineyard which is a nice way to start your day. would definitely consider when looking for a lodging option.

Room Tip: try to secure one of the vineyard suites. they are quiet and overlook the vineyard.

Stayed here 3 nights. Room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. Manicured grounds are beautiful and impeccably kept. Staff is courteous and helpful. Only downfall was our room was adjacent to the busy highway and truck noise was loud. Will stay here again on a return visit even if a little pricey

Room Tip: Ask for a room well away from the highway

Dear Murray C,

Thank you so much for your comments about your recent stay. We are very glad to hear that our property met your expectations. From the spacious rooms to the manicured grounds, our staff takes pride in providing each guest with their own “Wine Country” experience.

We do apologize that there was noise from trucks. Fall is such a beautiful time to be in the valley, however the busiest with harvest in full swing. Perhaps on your next visit, reserve a vineyard room at the western edge of the property, which will be set further back and boast amazing views of the vineyards.

Thank you again, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

If you are up paying for this Amazing property, Do It!!!
Absolutely the finest property in the valley by this I mean you feel like you were transported to Southeast France. The rooms are all in small four unit building in a gingerbread theme. The rooms are huge and clean as a whistle. The grounds are twice and beautiful as the pictures portray. There is a vineyard twenty feet from our backdoor and the mountain range in the close distance. All the staff is professional and attentive. We had the grounds engineer introduce himself, give us his card, with a cell phone number and told us to contact him if there any problems on the property. Breakfast is very good, not great, but above average. There is nothing else you need when going to St Helena than this place. The location is just south of the town, not walking distance, but a three minute drive.

The pool areas are wonderful with jacuzzis and the grounds are exceptional.

This place is worth every penny.

Room Tip: You really want the rose room and request the patio, not deck facing the vineyard
