Our group of five spent a fantastically fun and educational afternoon learning about wine from Rebecca (she knows her stuff and is excited to share her knowledge), who is one of Raymond's wine experts.
We began the experience by tasting and learning a bit more about the five wines that were available for us to use in our custom blend. In our case that was two 2013 cabernets (new French oak and neutral oak), a 2013 merlot and a 2013 petite verdot. After discussing what made each wine taste, smell and finish the way it did, we began crafting our individual creations. We had three chances to come up with the combination that would become our individual blend. After multiple attempts (this can get messy, depending on the amount of tasting that goes on) of measuring, pouring and tasting -- violá! -- my blend was born. Our group then went into a separate room where we bottled, corked, foiled and affixed a label (a few days prior, we emailed photos for custom labels to the winery) on our wine.
I have no idea whether or not I will actually enjoy any of the wine our group made, but the experience was an A+.
