I have stayed at the Hyatt a couple of times for meetings in the convention center. It is a very comfortable place to stay, nice quiet rooms and comfortable beds to sleep in. On my last stay I had a great view of the Capitol. The staff are nice and helpful. The food from room service and in the bar was tasty and fresh. Coffee maker in the room.

The location of this hotel is excellent. It's right across the street from the capitol building with its beautiful gardens and also surrounded by restaurants. It's also a 10-15 minute walk to Old Sacramento (which I found disappointing). As others have said, the rooms are modern and clean. It was exactly what I would expect for a Hyatt Regency - on the expensive side but great for business traveling.

My second stay here went very well - the front desk was very accommodating and professional on room selection and early check-in. The room was spacious and quiet (the Lutheran conferees were very well-mannered...) and from the south side of the seventh floor I had a great view of the Capitol and the full moon over the mall. Parking has easy in-and-out with the room key, and the c. 100 foot walk in the rain out the NE back door to my conference at the Convention Center was no problem. Formerly I stayed at the major chain hotel nearby, but I've decided I like the Hyatt better even though it doesn't have window seats.

The room I had was very clean and comfortable. The interior is modern with large LCD TV but they only renovated part of the bathroom (new vanity but the tub was old). Convention center is just a block away and close to shopping and restaurants. I had dinner at the steakhouse in the hotel and the steak and crab cake were very good. Overall, I enjoyed my stay while I was there for 4 nights.

Pros and Cons for this hotel:
Pros: The room was clean and was very modern. The beds were comfortable, and the housekeeping was very prompt when I needed more towels. Excellent group rates if your group is huge!
Cons: No microwave in the room. No refrigerator in the room unless you ask for it, which I did not because I knew that they would charge me for it. Walls were very thin!
Even the complimentary pen was cheaply made. Internet access cost me $7.99 for 6 minutes.
Forget asking the Concierge anything, because they don't know about anything to do with outside the hotel area. They seem to know what a business traveler would need to know, like what is the best Italian restaurant, but they don't know the price for admission to the zoo, or the Crocker Art Museum, and they don't have brochures.

Attended a conference at the Convention Center across the street, and found this hotel convenient but pricey! Although in comparison to other hotels of the same caliber in the same location this hotel was compatible in pricing. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had very comfortable beds. The staff was professional and very efficient. I made sure that I always advised the Front Desk of my room departure to ensure that my room was clean in case of an early return, and it was! This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the capital, convention center, many dining options, theater and shopping. My only complaint is that in order to get to the fitness center you have to exit the hotel to access the center from the street. I did not use it for that reason, but saw it from the window and it seemed well equipped. Internet access is very expensive, and they offer two options; standard access and high speed access at a higher price!!! My overall stay was very pleasant and would highly recommend this hotel if you can afford the high cost.
