“Great location for work at the Capitol and conventions!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

When in Sacramento this is my home away from home. The downtown location is right across the street from the Capitol and the convention center. The hotel lobby has been remodeled recently as have most of the rooms. On the food side there is a wide availability in the hotel. The two bars offer small meals and snacks along with appetizers. The breakfast offerings are wide ranging with a large buffett as well as custom cooked to order selections. Dinner selections are varied and tasty with a solid wine list as well. The gym has a large number of aerobic machines and weight machines. There is a pool that has a very comfortable sitting area. For convenience and comfort you can't beat it!

Room Tip: For a nice view of the Capitol face the street; if you want quiet pick the opposite side.

It was one of the better stays I have had at any hotel. I had a great time. The room was perfect. The staff friendly and helpful. I slept really well and don't always in a strange bed.

As it turned out the hotel was at capacity. There were several major events. They did a great job of managing the crowds. I was very impressed.

I would easily recommend the hotel to anyone. A pleasure to stay there and I will be back.

Room Tip: HIgher and over the pool and Capital Park.

Of course it's the Hyatt, and the exceptional quality goes without saying. With that said I was completely grossed out with smell in the shower, realizing the shower curtains were caked with a pink bacteria... Ick. It was quickly changed on the first evening after complaint. Even afterward, there was lingering smell. Fitness room was good. My biggest complaint is the same as other reviewers stated- wi-fi was $10/ day. really?!

Room Tip: Bring your own hotspot.

Excellent staff, great rooms, great showers, located close to many restaurants and shopping. From the minute you arrive until you leave, you'll be impressed. My first choice when visiting Sacramento for business or pleasure.

Apparently Hyatt is taking a page from the airlines playbook and they are going to begin charging for things we used to take for granted that were part of "customer service".

At a Hyatt Regency and you expect a cut-above the norm. On that it delivers. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and well appointed. Given its location (right across the street from the California state capitol building) I thought their room rates were on the fair side of comparable.

Parking. Yes your going to pay. Get used to it. Driving a car downtown into any downtown metropolitan city is going to cost you. So I was o.k. with that.

Only one gripe. WiFi. I have stayed in plenty of hotels and motels with a great many fewer amenities than a Hyatt and WiFi is included somewhere in your room rate. Not here.
Want WiFi in your room? That is going to cost you an extra $10 / day. Want faster WiFi? That is going to cost you $15 / day. Now..... to their credit the WiFi is "free" in the lobby or at the adjoining Starbucks. But or course they expect that you may hold up at the lounge in the atrium and pay $15 for a glass of wine.

In my opinion.... charging for WiFi in your room is like checking in and being handed one light bulb. "Oh you want more light bulbs sir"? "That will be an extra $10 / day."

Want a 4th star Hyatt? Pony up for basic in-room WiFi.

Room Tip: Want a bit more security? Above the 10th floor you use your room key in the elevator to access the u...

Staff from reception to room service are exemplary of high-end hotels. Although a large facility, there is sufficient attention to personalized hospitalityto make every stay unique and comfortable. Business-oriented guests are able to maximize the busy workday from the hotel's location in downtown but can enjoy the inclusive retreat-like accommodations in this setting. This Hyatt offers the best in balancing business and leisure ... Kudos to the sales staff who consistently extend one-on-one focused attention to details to ensure a memorable experience with every stay.

Another last minute over night stay in Sacramento, California had me searching for a room, and much to my surprise the Hyatt Regency Sacramento on “L” street still had Saturday night rooms available. The property is directly across from the State Capital and just east of the Capital Mall, and a short walk to the convention center, so very nicely located.
Although the property has been here for many years, you surely can’t tell by the way it is still sleek and modern looking in appearance and function. Valet and self parking is available in a multi-level structure connected to the hotel for convenience. The expansive lobby is comfortable and un-crowded, the pool area clean and well maintained. And to Hyatt standards my 9th floor room was a clean match to the brand expectations, coffee/tea, ironing board, large flat panel TV, pillow soft bedding, discreetly placed safe (large enough for your laptop/tablet), modern bathroom with no signs of wear and tear. Even the work desk was nicely laid out, with power outlets at desktop level, a nice and convenient touch for the true road warrior worker.
A visit to the lobby bar was rewarded with a elegant bar setting, with both indoor and patio seating, inside 4 flat panel TV’s and a full appetizer menu. Saundra and “Mitch” were pleasant and efficient in providing service. I didn’t dine at Dawson’s onsite steak house, though the setting looked quite nice (almost formal), though did notice they had a nice Port menu to accompany their fine dining, always a nice touch.
All in All a very nice property, so if you want a full service hotel location, this property fulfills the need quite nicely in function, staff and service.
