“First time”

I am in this hotel for a conference, so the hotel is pretty full. Because I was here for a 2-part conference, I had to change my room so on this visit, i have stayed in a king room with a couch and a king room with a chair. and it is my first time here. i recommend getting an even numbered room as it has a better view. You can people watch people going to and from the Westfield Mall and Old Town Sacramento, you also get a view of the parking lot. On the third floor, on the odd side of the hotel, one is afforded a FABULOUS view of the roof and can see the air conditioning pipes and fans and all sorts of things that are so very unsightly, but i guess somebody has to have that view?? The heating and cooling units in the room are a little older, in one room the unit was operated with knobs and the other still has an in-room unit but it is digital. There is free Wi-Fi and a bar and a restaurant located in the hotel. However, with the restaurants and food court in the mall and Old Town Sacramento so very close, you shouldn't go hungry. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable, but because there are still smoking rooms in the hotel, the hallways have a smell to them. I have been in non-smoking rooms, so the air/smells seem fine, once the door closes. They do provide one small bar of soap, lotion and voluminzing shampoo as well as clean towels (if you have forgotten a standard toiletry item at home (toothbrush/paste, razor, comb, shaving cream), they say they will get a complimentary replacement). There is also a small ironing board and iron in the rooms. I don't like that the hotel shares a parking lot with the Mall/City because the parking lot is about a block away from the hotel and if you have suitcases or other items, packing up to go can be a bit tedious. They do however, have valet parking.
It's not the best hotel i have ever stayed in, it is nice and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a room with an even number

This property serves mostly business travelers, including the Southwest Airlines crew. There is free wi-fi, that we never could get to work, and there is a charge to use the computers in the business center. There is an on-site restaurant that is fine, and a smallish bar area near reception. Be sure to sign up for the HI rewards program on their website to get coupons for drinks at the bar. The location is very central- right off of I-5, and next to a half-empty shopping mall that has a flagship Macy's. The hotel shares its parking lot with the mall, but they'll validateit for you. The Capitol building is a few blocks away and an easy walk. There is a walkway under the freeway to Old Town.

Room Tip: The rooms on the freeway side get sometraffic noise. Also, you might be given a handicapped accessib...

My husband and I stay here a couple of times a year just to get away. The hotel is within waking distance of the K St. Mall with restaurants and shopping. You can also walk over to Old Sac and all it has to offer. Also very close to Raley Field if you are a baseball fan.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and we always have a great time here.

I've been traveling to Sacramento every few months for the last several years. This Holiday Inn is one of my favorite places to stay when I'm in town. It's conveniently located downtown, and the rates are typically competitive. Decent fitness facility. Parking is convenient in the nearby structure, and the front desk staff will validate your parking for a fee. Also convenient to shops in the plaza nearby. Restaurant isn't too bad as far as hotel restaurants go.

Room Tip: This is a high rise hotel. Ask for a room on a higher floor.

I was a little hesitant to stay here but since some one else was paying and a lot of hotels were booked, I gave in and did not regret my decision. Great location and the room was very nice and clean. I got a coupon for a free drink at the bar and it was no problem using it. Parking is right next door and for $14 is was a great deal. Plenty of places to eat nearby and the entire staff was very friendly. The mall and Old Town were right outside the hotel but still a little scaring walking under the tunnel to Old Town, just be on alert and you should have no problems. I would stay here again without hesitation. Being from a small town I had a problem with traffic noise and not sure if there are rooms on a quieter side. Elevators were very fast and if you are on a higher floor you can forget about using the stairs.

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room

It was a nice stay all around. It is alittle dated but clean and near buses and shopping like Old Town and Mall . A short walk to convention center. We liked it for a short stay....Thanks

This is a better than average Holiday Inn. It is located very near the Old Town part of Sacramento and is adjacent to a shopping center that can prove useful if you want to shop or need a last minute gift. There is a Starbucks in the shopping center directly behind the hotel and several restaurants within walking distance. You can walk across the river or take a VERY short drive to get there. We stay at least once a year and have had no problems with cleanliness or the efficiency of the staff. The rooms are in good shape and the beds are soft. You can also choose different pillows at various levels of softness. The airport is about 15 minutes away and a taxi costs around $25-$30. One side of the hotel does face the freeway but the noise is minimal. The breakfast is good, not fantastic, but good and we had no complaints. The dining in the bar is also good, once again, not great, but good. The only downside to this hotel is that the price can be a surprisingly high during the week as this is a business hotel. Book ahead to get better rates.
