“Get a Room On The Water Side”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

What a lovely experience! We got the Travelzoo Deal that included one night, a bottle of wine and breakfast. Great location, just steps away from Old Town Sacramento. Our room was on the water side, which I highly recommend. It is an old ship, so the rooms are small but comfortable. We stayed on a Sunday night so it was pretty quiet. Spend the day exploring old town - it's even a short walking distance to the state capital building. The breakfast was yummy and the dining room is beautiful. A great place to stay. Would go back again.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the water side.

As soon as we stepped on the boat we were greeted and completely taken care of. Our room was cute and quaint. It was clean and quiet. We were in front on the top deck. Great view and the breakfast was yummy. I would go back again and looking forward to it

We live only 2 hours from Sacramento, but had never spent much time in Old Sacramento. Because we had a groupon, we decided to visit and stay on the Delta King. We had a wonderful time and wished we had done it before! We had a few hours to look around before check-in, so we went on the underground tour. Our tour guide had been an eighth grade history teacher and was fun and informative. Old Sacramento is very well preserved and I love the wooden sidewalks and old buildings. When we checked in at the Delta King, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice having drinks and appetizers on the deck, and the food was great. We also had dinner and breakfast on the Delta King; the food and service were excellent. Sitting on the deck and watching the boats was relaxing and fun. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. In the morning we took a walk across the Tower Bridge and along the river, then rented bikes in Old Sac and rode them along the river walk to Discovery Park. We also spent some time walking around capital park and touring the capital building. It was a busy but fun trip.

Room Tip: We stayed on the city side of the boat, and it was a little noisy at first, but the police close dow...

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely weekend on the DELTA KING in SACRAMENTO. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Our TRAVEL ZOO voucher allowed us the opportunity to have a night's stay with a welcoming bottle of wine and a free breakfast the following morning. The breakfast was excellent!
The room was small, cozy and clean. We also recieved tickets for free wine tasting at SUGAR MILL WINERY. Without the voucher, we never would have known about staying at the DELTA KING. Everything about this place stupendous! A charming place indeed!

Room Tip: A room facing the Delta river is nice so that you can enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee right...

We were in Sacramento to participate in Time Travel Weekend for the Civil War, and what better place to stay! We had a room on the top deck, and it was a nice mixture of period charm and modern convenience, with comfy bed, air conditioning, TV and coffeemaker hidden in a cabinet, and a wonderfully period bathroom. The shower had a porcelain head and brass fittings, and the toilet flushed from an upper tank! (My husband and a friend who stopped by had to try this out just because...) Be aware this is a riverboat, so ceilings are low, and the floor slopes toward the outer wall.
Great breakfast included. For a small extra charge, you can get something fancier. We did a standard breakfast the first morning, then my husband got some yummy croissant french toast and I got a bagle with lox and fixings on the next morning. We also had drinks and food at the bar and grill that I christened "Ten Forward." Very good food, tender calamari, but be aware service can be slow. However, I was being atmospheric in my 1860s hoopskirt, so I didn't mind lingering a bit longer, and we were also visiting with a friend on one night. You'll love all the wonderful woodwork in the bar and restaurant portion. Sitting outside gives a great view of the river, as well.

Room Tip: Inquire about ceiling heights, if you're tall!

If you like boats and water, this is the place to stay in Sacramento. The King is a wonderfully restored paddle wheeler, set right in the heart of Old Sacramento. We stayed 4 nights in room 520, which is on the upper deck, at the stern. It is a lovely room, with extra windows, and is slightly larger than some of the others. There are tables on deck outside of the rooms, a great spot to sit with a glass of wine, watching all of the activity on the river.
We had a very nice breakfast each morning on board. Thursday evenings they have Irish music in the bar, which we enjoyed, the bar is gorgeous. We had dinner one evening on deck at the bar, a lovely meal, great service, great view, and a wedding to watch below.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who ever thought about taking the Delta Queen......a much more affordable stay, on a sister ship. Children will love it too. They will love the trains, and the Hornblower boat ride as well.
Staff were very friendly and efficient. If you valet park, ask for your car 15 minutes before you need it.
We would stay again in a heartbeat!!

Room Tip: The room we had 520 was really cute, more windows, slightly larger. Top deck, stern, above the paddl...
