We chose the Amber House for for its location in Midtown Sacramento. It was within walking distance to the Geery Theater and several excellent restaurants so we could just park the car and in a few minutes walk to our destination. The house was a beautifully maintained craftsman style building with a comfortable decorating style that was a nice departure from the Victorian chintz look that many Bed and Breakfasts succumb to. Our room on the main floor, the Byron Room, was very attractive and clean. The staff were very helpful and the delicious french toast breakfast in the morning on the cool front porch was delightful with china, a white table cloth and fresh flowers. We will stay here again when we breeze into town.

Room Tip: AC noisy if you need to open a window in the ground floor room.

I can't say enough wonderful things about The Amber House. We stayed for three nights as we are in town for the French film festival. The Wasdworth room is fantastic, the staff are very attentive and friendly-thank you Stephanie, Carol, and all the other fabulous staff, the breakfasts
were yummy and the fresh chocolate chip cookies before bed were a nice homey touch. The neighbourhood the B&B is located in is also very nice. Close to the Capitol and old town Sac. Many restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby. If you are staying in Sacramento you would be crazy not to choose The Amber House.

We've stayed in B&Bs all over the U.S., and this one is just what a B&B should be: comfortable, clean, attentive to guests, clued in to details, with a great breakfast. Room was lush and the two-person jetted tub was wonderful. Robe was beyond plush. Don't hesitate to book a room here; you won't be disappointed.

Stayed one night - would have stayed longer if we had time. Wonderful craftsman house that is being very well cared for. Furnishings consistent with the craftsman style. Great front porch with tables/chairs and a swing -- nice place to sit in the afternoon with a glass of wine. Very nice room, comfortable bed (although a bit high off the ground for short people like me!). Service was great. Delicious chocolate chip cookies and milk at night. Wonderful breakfast. And all of this within walking distance of Peet's Coffee. Could not ask for more! Only negative is lack of a real closet (room had an armoire) which could be a challenge for a longer stay and the shower curtain around the oval tub which made it nearly impossible not to get water all over the floor. We will stay here on our next trip to Sacramento.

Room Tip: we were on first floor- Lord Byron room - which was convenient - no lugging suitcases up stairs.
