The restaurant, designed by San Francisco architect Michael Guthrie, is located on the ground floor of the 26-story Esquire Plaza Building and adjacent to the Sacramento Community Theater and Convention Center. The menu includes a selection of grilled and spit roasted meats, fish, and poultry, as well as appetizers, salads, and house made desserts. A full bar, extensive wine list, and private banquet facilities are also available.

The Mrs had the grilled salmon with the flat iron salad, I had the Beeler chop with the arugula salad. We split the apple galette for dessert. Also had a couple of glasses of wine that paired quite nicely but can't recall exactly which ones. Just an overall great dining experience. A short walk to the Crest Theater. Highly recommend.

Looking for a Trip Advisor recommended restaurant close by, we opted for Esquire Grill. Not one of our better culinary decisions. The evening began in a very promising way; the staff were very good and the homemade rosemary bread was spectacular. Downhill after that. Throughout the evening, the vibe was not very good. My husband described it as "cold and vacant." Our steaks were mediocre at best. Not a good sign for an American grill. The only reason I would venture into this restaurant again would be for the bread. If it is geographically convenient for you and you really don't mind average food, you will be fine here. Otherwise, I would venture farther afield.

It was a rainy night so my group had to find a place close to the hotel. The setting was very nice and intimate. The food was outstanding and everyone's meal was fresh and well prepared. They also have a restaurant at the Sacramento Airport in the Southwest terminal if you missed coming to his location. We will come back here again in our travels to Sacramento!

We had dinner and lunch here, very good selection and a bit more upscale. We were at an animal conference though so jeans and scrubs are okay.

Waited over 1 and 1/2 hours food that never came. My wife made reservations a week in advance for very special occasion. We ordered two salads, two glasses of wine, two Filets and sides. After short wait, the salads and wine were served. After 1 hour, no food or update on food status. After 1 1/2 hours, the server said the food will be served very soon. During this entire wait, nothing was offered, no bread, crackers or possible appetizers. After a short while longer, we asked for the check. The manager never came to discuss this unfortunate experience. We were charged for salads and wine, and we paid, with not tip. We left this restaurant hungry. i spoke ot the manager on the way out about our situation. He knew that our food was never served and asked if he could then make it up..I refused..Why wait until we are leaving the restaurant? If you want a special occasion dinner, choose wiesly and pick any place but this. The pizza place across the street would have been a better experience.
