Description: Tapa The World opened in May of 1994 and is owned by brother and sister Paul Ringstrom and Conni Levis. Both owners spent time in Spain during their college years, studying Spanish and taking in as much of the local culture as they were able to on student's budget. Paul's educational background (he earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell's Hotel/Restaurant Management School) coupled with his love of the Spanish life-style brought him back to Spain in 1990, where he opened a Tex-Mex restaurant off the Gran Via in Madrid. Meanwhile, Conni earned an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University and moved to Sacramento in 1992. The concept for the restaurant evolved during many late night conversations between the two owners, until Paul finally returned to the states in 1993, eager to open the first Spanish restaurant in Sacramento. It is our goal to provide the food, wine, music, and dance of Spain in an atmosphere that is warm, welcoming and fun. We encourage our guests to linger over their conversations, to invite their friends, and above all, to feel "bienvenido" each time they visit.

The small dishers were economical , but still delicious, you can
order a few and share. Dark romantic atmosphere, central bar, nice music, Great place for a first date!

“Great Burger!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

We received a gift certificate to Tapa the World and used it last night. This restaurant specializes in tapas and other small bits with a Spanish flair, but when we checked out the menu, we spotted the Tapa burger. It was made with New Zealand beef and was topped with manchego cheese (from sheep) and came with a huge green salad or fried potatoes. Both my wife and I woofed it down in about 15 minutes which either meant that we were both super hungry or this was one great burger! My wife never finishes a burger and she almost finished before I did. This place also has a very good wine list with both California and Spanish wines. Next time when we have a craving for a good burger, we will be back

“Great spot for a romantic dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2012

We had our anniversary dinner here a few nights ago and had a wonderful time! The atmosphere is nice, the food is delicious, and the service was outstanding. Strongly recommend the potato, chive, and cheese empanadas (they melt in your mouth!) and the "Pimientos del Piquillo Rellenos" - Roasted red peppers stuffed with grilled eggplant, zucchini, caramelized onions and cheese. The presentation of the peppers was beautiful and they were served with a sweet black risotto that was delectable! Drinks were good, and the server was happy to repair a mixed drink that didn't at first meet my wife's palate. She enjoyed it much more after they fixed it.

“Liked the live music!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

This is a fun atmosphere. We enjoyed the live guitar music as we ate. It felt very authentic. The Kobe Beef was excellent, as was the calamari. I would suggest that if you want to get the caesar salad, you should squeeze the lemon they provide on it, as the dressing is heavy on anchovy. The lemon neutralizes it.

Honestly, I enjoy the part of nibbling, but after going to several tapas places, my impression is that you spend much more than you would at a regular restaurant and that seems a bit "un-thrifty."

Great food, service and always a satisfied crowd. It is a neighborhood place with a regional draw of many regular patrons.
