We were looking at some Japanese before we went back to Australia. TA recommended Mikuni. We arrived and were told we could have a table, but the sushi bar was full. We got a table on the edge, and were served immediately by Emily, who gave us some information. We noticed that there was a $40 special, 1 course from one list, 1 from another, and so on, and so Emily explained it all to us. We went with it. What came out was some of the most delicious and innovative Japanese food we have had, with a Japanese basis, but an infusion of local ideas that added to it and did not overwhelm it. The dessert we chose was ice cream, which came wrapped in the traditional Japanese rice dough, and we were disappointed that it did not contain green tea macha, which would be about as Japanese as you could get. All of the items were available as separate dishes on the main menu. Overall, this place was amazing and the food even bordered on the spectacular.
