We hadn't eaten at Aioli Bodega is quite awhile and were anxious to try it agan before bringing out of town guests back. What a great meal...a little bit of this...a little bit of that...that's what tapas are. The two of us ordered four plates plus the bread bits and garbanzo dip which is to die for and finished with two desserts. We got there at 6:00 and had our pick of tables...table for two in the window is great and by 7:00, the place was packed and noisy. Guitar music started at 7:00 and was not too loud unless you had the table next to him. My only complaint is that the wine list is outrageously expensive. We ordered a Pinot Grigio (the least expensive, but good) for $36 and looked it up on line where it retails locally for $11!! I expect restaurants to mark up wine but their prices are a bit out of line IMHO.

Myself and a group of associates ate at Ailoi during our last night in Sacramento. We did not encounter the problems with service mentioned in the other reviews, but we also showed up before there were many people to serve, so we had the waiter's full attention. The prices were a bit more on the high side than we expected, but the selection was very impressive. If you can't find something to get excited about on the menu, then there's a dollar burger somewhere with your name on it. The food was prepared and presented with care and was very flavorful.

Being a tapas restaurant, the portions aren't huge and there aren't really sides to speak of. The quality of the food compensates for this somewhat. The waiter encouraged ordering as a group with each person sharing their respective selection with the rest of the table almost to the point of being pushy. That's not my thing, but I expected it to be as such given where I was dining, so no points off for that.

They have a respectable selection of bourbon from the middle and top shelves, if bourbon is your thing. The wine menu was also notable.

I fell in love with this restaurant about 5 years ago, and any time I return, my high expectations are never let down. The ultimate experience of Aioli's is to dine on their outdoor brick patio covered with vines, on a warm night when they have the live guitar/mandolin player. The ambiance, the trickle of the fountain, and the live music are really romantic, relaxing and transports you to another place and time. The servers know their menu well and give great recommendations on wine and dishes. Sharing several of the tapas is the way to go. So many unique dishes and great flavors.

My wife and have enjoyed two memoriable trips to Spain and have developed a fondness for all types of Spanish cuisine. The menu choices, from tapas to main dishes are wide ranging and interesting. We started with an order of mixed olives sharing a pitcher of Sangria. I made a meal of Tapas including a slice of Tortilla Tres Colores and a Lamb dish. My wife had their fish of the day. The food was very good and the service was excellent bringing back fond memories of our time in Spain.
