“Good though small”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

Went here the night before the CIM marathon. Nice place, quite elegant, traditional interior. Food was good as I expected from all the good reviews. Beet salad to start, a little bland. Delicious pasta, though exceedingly small. Dessert excellent, especially creme brûlée.

“Fabulous Food, Excellent Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

Biba's never disappoints! The lasagna, served on Thursday and Friday until it runs out, was to die for - tasty with its many layers. The fish specail on our night was swordfish, so tender that it could be cut with a fork alone. Appetizers were wonderful as well, and dessert wrapped things up perfectly. The service, as always, was exemplary. Biba's always gives us a little visit back to Italy!

“Lasagna from heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

You have to tell the hostess you want lasagna while making your reservation. It is literally melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Such a great restaurant for a special occasion, especially with family (and definite brownie points if your family is Italian). Biba will wander through the restaurant and say hello to patrons she knows every night, buy one of her cookbooks and ask her to dedicate it to you while she's there. She will kindly oblige.

“The food here is horrible”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

I've been to A LOT of italian restaurants, and this place is not even close. Apparently the reviewers of Biba have never been outside of Sacramento. The menu is limited and the dishes are outdated and simply poor quality. Don't waste your time.

“Beautifully prepared Italian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

Biba's, in downtown Sacramento, is an excellent restaurant. We have been there twice, for lunch, and both times the food was beautifully prepared -- and I mean expertly done, not fancy presentations. You get enough to eat, but are not overwhelmed with the size of the dishes. We had the seafood stew the last time, and the ingredients all tasted very fresh, the fish and shellfish perfectly cooked, and the broth was delicious!! The ravioli with shrimp was, according to my friend, also delicious, made with tender pasta enclosing shrimp, and just the right amount of a perfect sauce. Service was excellent but unobtrusive, and the atmosphere was attractive, comfortable, and not too noisy. We could actually hear each other talk across a round table!! It is somewhat pricey, but well worth the cost.
