“Price is right”

First, the food was good for a carry out There is outdoor seating just out the door, with a good view of the river front area There are four or five tables inside also.. Next the price was good. Wife had the fish and chips, she was very happy with the fish. I had a cheeseburger. The burger was great and very much larger than the bun. The burger appeared to be hand made, from fresh meat.I as happy. The onion rings are a must if like onion rings. Chips looked and tasted fresh cut. Prices are reasonable for a tourist area. They have an extensive sea food menu. Not to be over looked for the kids Corn Dogs.

It started to rain just as we were served. We were just a short way from our hotel so we ate in our room.

All most everything in Old Sacramento shuts down around 5_6 pm this time of year. Railroad Fish and Chips seems to go with the flow. If there are people in numbers about ,they will stay open. Service is walk up and just a few minutes wait.

“Food on the run!”
Reviewed October 17, 2016

If you are pressed for time and enjoy sitting outside, this would be the place to check out for fried fish. Haven't tried anything else except halibut. It's good place to eat during Jazz Festival or during summer, when other places are booked.

“Quick deep-fried options”
Reviewed October 17, 2016

Loved the ease of access and location. The restaurant is a quick-service one that serves a lot of fried foods. I am not sure the foods are fresh by any means, but the dishes were satisfactory. We enjoyed the calamari and wished there were more pieces in that dish and the fish tacos were good as well. I would recommend either dish to a friend. Other served french fries, just a heads up there. Kid dishes available. Like hot dogs and hamburgers. Prices were decent - $6 for kids and up to $12 regular dishes

I'm a connoisseur of fish and chips and these fit up into the top 5. Especially in the U.S..
The batter was good and not too thick...The cops were not great but ok. They were regular fries. Also...They should get real white malt vinegar rather than brown..eww.
The food was hot...good...And quick.

“Like it says, fish & chips at the railroad”
Reviewed September 27, 2016

Stop here for a quick bite if you are out and about in Old Sacramento. Food is quickly prepared and is reasonable priced. Nothing fancy about this place -- I didn't feel underdressed having just walked up in T-shirt and running shorts. The staff was very friendly. Menu has pictures of each dish, mostly fried foods. Beverages are a variety of bottled items in the fridge, but included several good choices for a hot day.
