Playing tourist this weekend and was able to get in on this tour last minute. So glad I did. Our group was a fun bunch and Roy, our guide was fabulous. We got to know "the history of Sacramento that they don't put in the history books" - very informative and fun.
I thought the food would be the real star of the tour (don't get me wrong, it was all all to die for...) but it was speaking with the chefs that was the real highlight. The passion and approachability was incredible. Chef Shannon at Bernardos was so engaging asking us what restaurants we liked so she could check them out. She gave us all her email and offered to give pointers and answer any culinary questions we might have when trying new reciepes. And it went on at each stop.
What was considered a "tasting" at each stop was nothing like the Costco portion I was expecting. So glad I didn't have breakfast...
You already know to wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers. If you could find out the final destination for your tour and park near there you will be so much happier. Our tour ended about 6 blocks from where we started, and it seemed like forever walking back to the car. You have been walking for 3 miles, but always had the promise of the "next taste" to keep you motivated. Not so much walking back to the car - lol.
It took every bit of 4 hours - so keep that in mind when parking. I am looking forward to trying some of the other tours and even some in other areas (based on tips from others in the group)
