“Get outside and see a different view of the city.”

We rented "Cruisers" at Practical Cycle on J st. in Old Sacramento and spent a leisurely 2 hrs. on the Amercian River Bicycle Trail, which goes for over 30 miles from Old Sac to Folsom. Cost $10 pp for 2 hrs. includes helmet, lock and basket. A flat paved trail shared with rollerbladers and joggers, with several opportunites for crossings, bridge turnouts or stops for picnicking. An enjoyable morning.

“Whenever I leave Sacramento, I miss this trail the most.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

I've lived overseas twice (Asia and Europe) and NOTHING compares to the natural beauty and calm of running or riding along this trail.

I recently returned from living abroad and I've been on the trail almost every day since.

“American River Bike Trail”

Safe place to ride your bike or go for a walk along the American River and not deal with traffic. There are many places to enter.

“You have to travel too far to get a good bike ride”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

Bikes really good, but it is a good 5 miles until you get to anywhere that is scenic, unless you think the park is. We met a lady who lives in Sacremento and regularly travels this bicyle trail for work, she told us she always carries mace as a protection, which put us off a bit.

“Great Ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

Hopped on the Trail at Watt avenue and rode all the way to Folsom Lake and Dam. Passed some "beaches" on the way, lots of folks out having fun. Friendly bikers, most very courteous. There were some rest-rooms and several waterfront parks where you could stop and relax under the trees and enjoy the view or just people watch and enjoy the aroma of BBQ.
