“Not a bad seat in the house”

I love this theater both for live performances and film. Beautiful interior and great seating. The snack bar is conveniently located and has a great selection. The employees are always friendly. Great location for restaurants and parking facilities.

“Joyously restored performance space”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

I went to a country music performance at the Crest. It's not my favorite music, but I wanted to experience the theater and it was worth it for that alone. The soaring heights of this venerable theater are punctuated by rich Deco-era detail and recessed ceiling illumination that is tasteful and yet dramatic. And there isn't a bad seat in the house.

“I never come here often enough!”

I am not sure if the Tower Theater or the Crest Theater are my favorite in Sacramento but both have a great atmosphere. The big screen is much better than the two smaller screens so beware. But, a tub of popcorn, a Sprite, and two hours later I feel like I have been to a mental spa!

“Charning venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

We recently attended a concert at the Crest. What a lovely old restored theater. It's nice to have a bar inside the theater to get a glass of wine or beer before the show. The one drawback is the acoustics. The theater was not built for concerts, especially those with full bands and amps. I would have enjoyed the event more had I brought my earplugs to lessen the reverberation noise.Because it's a small theater, even the upper seating is good.

“Unique venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

We saw The Mavericks in concert here. The Mavericks were excellent, the venue is decent for a concert. The acoustics were decent, some echo noises. This is an old movie theatre that still functions as a movie theatre. It is very ornate and fun to look at when has been accomplished during various remodels.
There is a lower and upper seating area. The upper seating is stadium, the lower seating is angled but not stadium, you will have look around someone tall sitting in front of you. The downside to seating is that the seats are original, that is people use to be thin and fit, not so much today. If you are not thin or fit the seating may seem a little cramped.
If you haven't been here before go take a look at what movie theaters use to look like back in the day. If you are going to a concert here, seats in the lower area will be great. Seating in the lower section of the upper seats are still good.
