You can access the American River Parkway in many places along the river, but we spent most of our time at the end by Folsom.

“Wonderful place to walk or bike.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

My shins are still soar from my two hour walk along the trail the other day. In addation to the paved trail, there are several small unpaved parallel trails to explore as well. The scenery was beautiful, trail was shady, and the small animals were fun to see.

“A great place to bike, run or walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

There are not many place where you can bike, run or walk for 35 miles on a paved path along a river, but you can here. The pathway runs from Folsom Lake down to Discovery Park in Sacramento. There are various parks, such as Goethe and William Pond, along the Parkway. There are various waterfowl on and along the American River. At night time you can hear coyotes howl. This Parkway alone makes Sacramento special.

It is nice for a bicycle ride. I would not go alone though I always go along with my husband.

32 miles of trail each way, what could be better. I ride bikes and walk here all the time.
