As others have mentioned, it is a small zoo, but has plenty to do. The exhibits are well presented and you can experience some of the animals closer than at other zoos. The giraffe exhibit is especially well done and a favorite (you can feed the giraffes during certain times for a fee). We've gone at all times of day and sometimes it is difficult to see animals in their exhibits. It is definitely a kid friendly place and perfect for a morning or afternoon outing. Overall, the grounds are well laid out, easy to walk, and clean. There are some parts that are a bit run down and need renovation (some restrooms, and reptile house especially), but there are constant improvements going on. Food is standard fare and decent. Overall its a nice place to spend a couple of hours with the kids.

For its size and very reasonably priced, this is a great place to enjoy a variety of animals and birds without the "hustle and bustle" of larger zoos. Plenty of area to stop and take a break, eat lunch, etc. Extremely clean, no obnoxious smells, and staff was very nice and courteous. Majority of the visitors were families of very young children. Cafe was very good-hot food, clean, fast and friendly service. Zoo can easily be viewed in an hour or so, but taking it in the time can be easily extended. Close and personal "elbow room" for each area. The reptile exhibit (indoors) viewing areas were a little congested to be able to take your time. Overall, a great low-key place to enjoy and spend the day with family and friends.

This is a smaller zoo. You can see all in 2-4 hours. That being said my young toddler/prescooler loves coming here. Nice variety of animals for a smaller zoo. Not too many side activities or shows. There is a little train and merry-go-round that my little one loves and a little playground. The giraffes and sea otters were fun to watch. To make a day of it there are several fun little parks in the same vacantly for the younger child.

It's been decades since our last visit. The Sunday morning ticket line was out to the curb. However, the line moved quickly. We took advantage of a half off ticket coupon from a zoo flyer at the hotel's attractions rack, There is a small trackless kiddie train that is available to explore the zoo. There were staffed kid activity tables the day we were there. On selected exhibits, there appeared to be informational speaker boxes operated by purchased credit card shaped keys.

This is a great Zoo for the whole family! Not only are there the usual animal exhibits, they have lots of activities during the year. Before going be sure to check out their website to see if there are special hours or special exhibits for that day. I highly recommend this zoo for the well-maintained exhibits and the ease of access to this "home town" zoo. If you have the time, get the combination Zoo/Fairy Tale Town ticket -- the kids will LOVE IT.
