“Great Place to Stay in Sacramento!!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

My one week stay for businness at the Larkspur Landing was suprisingly well. Not having the Larkspur franchise where I am from, I was a little hesitant about staying there at first, all the other main chain hotels (Double Tree, Hilton, Mariott) were all sold out. I enjoyed the Larkspur mainly for the location it is centrally located in Sacramento, not many things are in walking distance but you really do need a car in this city. The rooms clean and very spacious, It was wonderful to have a full size refrigerator, stove and microwave in the room, every morning they have free continental breakfast in the lobby. If it also interest you they also have a BBQ grill out front if you would like to have a cookout. The hotel also offers free parking and wifi. They do have 2 computers for use in the lobby and with free printing for your boarding pass and other documents. If you are looking for a restaurant close by, there is a Mel's Diner in the parking lot along with a Quiznos. The hotel is also very reasonable for the area.

We are repeat customers as the Larkspur Landing has the best location, always adequate free parking, good starter breakfasts, consistently friendly and efficient staff. The rooms are tastefully
furnished, large bath, stove, refridge in kitchenette. I had sampled other hotels in town, but they
are more expensive and not as adequate. There is nothing else that compares with it. Proximity
to highways 50 or 80 makes travel stopover easy. It is on the edge of east Sacramento, near the college and blocks from the American River and great for bicycle enthusiasts. Fine dining or fast foods are minutes away. Business or family trips make this hotel worth checking into!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back have a pretty view of trees and quiet residences. But all rooms are quiet a...

Very nice mid-quality hotel. Clean and nicely appointed. Great bed. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was typical prepackaged not-so-great "continental." Very good value for the price.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and there are many reasons I will return to Larkspur Landing - Sacramento. It is centrally located. The rooms have great amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen (including a stove and refrigerator). It's the perfect place to stay for business as they have free wireless, sound proof windows, iron and ironing board, and a continental breakfast served at 6AM each morning. They also have laundry and grocery services, and a small gym. There's fresh baked cookies and coffee each afternoon, adding a warm touch when you return from work. It is a very clean and nice atmosphere. But, the best thing about this place is it's friendly staff who alway greet you with a lovely smile. Highly recommend this place!

My wife and I spent a Friday night at the Larkspur and found it comfortable and very clean. It was evident that the room we stayed in has not been renovated recently but the bathroom was very clean and the room was tastefully decorated. Advertised as a studio suite, it had a full size refrigerator, a cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher, all in very good condition and clean. There was plenty of parking, and the elevators were more responsive than average.

That day, the temperature outside was 103 - 107 F, yet the AC performed well enough to keep the room temperature at a comfortable 70 F, and the fan was not overly noisy. It appears that the room is well enough insulated as we hardly heard any outside noise.

We did not partake of the complimentary breakfast offered, so no comment on that. The room price at AAA/senior rate was just under $100 including tax, a good value for what we received.

One annoying thing that happened was we were locked out of our room at about 11:05 AM when we returned to pack and check out (official check out time was noon). I had to go to the front desk twice to have the key reactivated. The clerk said the lock-out feature activates as the time approaches noon. Someone needs to reprogram.

Nevertheless, our stay there was enjoyable and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing Howe Ave., a relatively busy street.

This hotel is great if you want a reasonably priced stay in a very nice location. While there were a few housekeeping items that could use improvement, the cleanliness was fine. We made reservations for 4 nights by phone. The Internet rates were reasonable but we called and they gave us an even better price that was much better than similar hotels. During our stay there was one day that housekeeping didn't remove all of our used towels and only left one clean bath towel. It appeared that they didn't do a final check of the room. When we called the front desk, a full stack of new towels, extra soap and several apologies were provided within 5 minutes. The bathtub also dripped but we didn't report it until departure. The furniture and decor were appropriate for a business hotel of this age--not terrible, but not impressive. The staff is the shining star at this hotel. Everyone makes a point to smile and ask about your satisfaction. Any questions or complaints are quickly addressed. The trees surrounding the property and the river walk behind the hotel are an added bonus. Mel's Diner, in the parking lot, is a great little restaurant with tasty food.

After reading earlier reviews of this hotel we were disappointed by our stay. The rooms were a bit outdated. The carpeting in the rooms was more like outdoor carpeting. The housekeeping staff seemed overwhelmed as our room was not made up until after 1:00 pm. Upon arrival, we found one bath towel in the room. And there was evidence that the bathroom had not been properly clean ed.
The staff was courteous and the breakfast was good.
