This historical building has so much to offer- classical old masters and a solid contemporary collection. The traditional paintings are in the historical wing of the Crocker- many were collected by Judge and Mrs. Crocker in their travels to Europe. Be sure to stay and have lunch and visit the first-rate gift shop. The Crocker is close to the Waterfront, making for a most pleasant walk on a warm summer's day- or any day. The Crocker is a must-see.

The Crocker is a wonderful blend of the old and the new. Originally the Crocker estate home was converted to a museum. Over the years the collection has grown. In recent years the new addition has has created a marvelous blend bringing a new modern facility together with the old mansion. A rather interesting dichotomy. Visitors can enjoy the open space of the facility for lunch. Enjoy the exhibits and special installations yet also explore the beautiful 19th century staircase, woodwork and ballroom of the original home. From Pieter Brueghel II and Albrecht Dürer to Adrian Zingg it is worth a trip. Note: If you are a fan of Meissen porcelain, they have a rather lovely collection.

This is a word class art museum in the states capital. Should be in SF or LA or even NYC. Recently renovated and space added this place is massive. I guess the only complaint I might have is you might miss something if you don't know how to navigate the 3 buildings.

I really enjoy this museum because you can go modern/contemporary or you can travel back in time to the older parts of the museum and see some beautiful older works. The space will transport you both to the future and the past, overall a great experience. The museum itself is fairly kid friendly but there is also a great grassy area across the street where they can let go and run around. The courtyard has a neat waterfall/fountain that will grab the kid's attention too.

The museum is located in the center of Sacramento and within walking distance of Old Town. Focus is on contemporary art , but traveling exhibitions are always available. Located just behind the historic Crocker Mansion.
