Railroading is as American as "Mom's Apple Pie". This is one the Nations best Railroad Museums and is adjacent to Sacramento's Amtrak Station and Old Sacramento. This is a wonderful experience for the young people who never experienced the great days of rail travel, and is nostalgic for those of us who love to travel by train and remember the hey-day of rail travel. Very interesting displays, interactive things for kids, lots of historic train lore, and even films about railroading history. Very good historical information about the building of the Railroads through the Sierra Mountains in the 1800's.
I consider this an absolute must visit for everyone, young and old. You will really enjoy this one!
