Owner description: This historic area of restored buildings, museums and novelty shops brings life to the Sacramento waterfront.

A theme park effect, but not so amusing. Candy stores and overpriced restaurants seem to be the thing there. We were there after 5PM on a weekday, so museums were closed. Still, other than a one-time walk around town and (possibly the museums) there really isn't much to do.

Once was enough for me.

A lot of people laugh about Sacramento but it is one of California's hidden gems. Old Town is especially nice. There's lots to see and do here.

At night it attracts a different kind of crowd. Went to the comedy club and it was great. Very good comedians. I laughed out loud.

I had never heard of Old Sacramento before ending up there. It was the week before Christmas and everything decorated and busy with only the bustle you can get when everybody is in a cheerful mood. Madee a couple of good purchases and would definitely go there again. I understand they have some kind of special event around Labor Day. From what I hear I think it would be a wonderful time to go.

Years ago we visited old sac and decided to go back and take our daughter with us. How disappointed we were. There were more tattoo parlors and candy shops than anything else. We did go into an a really nice book/antique Shoppe. Lots of good books and antiques to browse through.
There seems to be lots of restaurants, so maybe it would be a better bet to have dinner and then stroll around.
