Great place to learn about early Sacramento and how it was settled. Downtown area is lovely with many trees.

If you want to show your children life in the past, take them to Sutter's Fort.
When the actors are there, you will see a slice of life and it will be very authentic. The children love the Blacksmith's area.

Very informative about the local area and how it grew up until the gold rush. It was actually the owner's fault, Mr Sutter that it all started as a matter of fact.

I love kids but the children were crawling all through out the place and they were rude, walked in front of us repeatedly without any concern of it. One kid stood right in front of me while I was reading a sign. The adults said nothing! I know its hard to watch all the children at one time for chaperons but some lessons on manners need to be taught to kids before going on field trips. We left after about one hour.
