We have had Caymus wines before so naturally wanted to stop by during our first visit to Napa. We pre-booked in advance through cellarpass. It is kind of hard to get tours to Caymus due to its popularity so if you do plan on going it is a good idea to book well in advance. They don't have a large tasting area so if you don't have an appointment then get there early. We really enjoyed this tasting because we had a friendly guide and got to get out to the vineyard and sample some grapes and learn about the harvesting procedure. Following that we went to a gorgeous room where our sit down tasting took place. Great tour and great wine.

Caymus does not conduct tours....only tasting. The tasting conductor was very comical which made the process more fun. We tasted 4 wines. Pretty much a standard affair. We are a fan of the Caymus Special Selection Cab so we wanted to go to the winery just so we would know the origin. While the tasting was better than most, I would still suggest a winery tour unless, like us, you just want to go to Caymus.

We've become fans of Caymus wines over the last couple of years and decided to stop in on our visit to Napa Valley.

First the location, right in the middle of the valley, is gorgeous. We walked into the small tasting room and were greeted by a very pleasant server from Michigan who chatted us up and made us feel very welcome. We took a tasting, and after telling them we had bought over a dozen bottles of their Special Selection (well over $100/bottle), they treated us to a glass of that wine.

The tasting room is small and they don't have a lot of kitschy stuff like the other wineries, and they have a small wine room adjacent to the tasting room with bottles for sale. Really this is all you need but i'd imagine it could get a little crowded there at times.

Overall the is a nice family winery that i'd recommend. Some of these smaller wineries really make you feel welcome and it's nice to have a tasting, talk to their servers, and relax without all the hustle and bustle you get at some of the bigger places.

One of the last family owned wineries in the valley with great wines. Great sit down tastings with hosts with great knowledge.

We stopped by Caymus around 10am on a Wed morning. We weren't able to book a tour/tasting combo here, but for $15 you can drop in and taste three wines, plus keep the glass which is a nice souvenir. We were the only ones in the tasting room and had two fantastic staff members to ourselves. I would go here again and try to book the tasting with the tour next time. This was probably one of my favorite wineries to visit on a drop in basis, but I imagine it would get crowded later in the day.
